(Q) Well, what is it that has brought about this change?
(A) Now, you see, we have here this body of [
34], the
condition existing in the system as we had here before, the
cortex of the stomach, coming in contact with those of the
muscular and nerve centers, and the diaphragm and the stomach
themselves, or the entrance to the stomach, or the esophagus
here. The restraining to the blood supply, that is, the
treatment along the spine of both electric and cold
applications, have reduced, or kept the full action of the
blood from this condition to such an extent that we have
retarded or kept away these conditions, the spasmodic
conditions, to this condition here in the stomach.
The filling up of the stomach of matters; that is, what has
been taken into it here, has brought about a retarding to
this force, or effect that we have produced into the system,
until we have had a return of some of these forces. Not so
hard - more frequent. We have had, instead of a dilatation
of the walls of the stomach, that into the system which is
called a contraction to the forces of the walls of the
stomach themselves, or the attempt of the gastric juices in
the stomach to act onto the walls of the stomach. The nature
of the body to preserve or protect, in throwing out these
juices, or this cellular force, or protoplastic cells, as you
might call it, to retard this brings about this condition.
We are losing more of the hope in the body itself; not
individually, but expressions from the outside. We need to
be stronger, with a suggestion of the power within itself.
It is not lost in itself. You see we have here now, [
34] in
the body, the impressions received through other bodies of
the same nature around this body, has its bearing or effect
on the system in the retarding of the system and the body.
We need that into the system here of [
34] more of this
bromide in the system, not so much at a time. Then we need
applied to the forces here more of this cold at intervals;
not so cold as we have had heretofore; that is, ice at the
first and second cervical, ninth and tenth dorsal, second and
third lumbar; not the whole length, as we have had before.
Not so frequent, not so long.
Plenty of suggestion to the body, and stronger from the
individuals around. Keep the body in the air as much as
possible, let the diet be of the simple, easy digestion; not
too much acid.
(Q) Any other treatment at present?
(A) No, this is it along here, now, from the same force
applied to the body as we had before; the electric forces to
act on the nervous system.
REPORTS
8/11 Sister's affidavit excerpt (see complete affidavit
on EC's work in affidavit book on date sequence file):
"In confirmation of the above mentioned facts (affidavit),
I have this to say, in substantiation of what I have already
stated, that my brother [
34], who, by the way, has been an
epileptic for more than twenty-five years, and we have spent
hundreds of dollars and have employed noted physicians, but
all the efforts put forth proved utterly useless and futile,
save that he was given temporary relief, but no marked change
was made in his awful condition.
"We learned through the medium of the press (
294-1 10/09/10)
the wonderful power possessed by Mr. Edgar Cayce, Jr., and
and in November last, we repaired to Hopkinsville, Ky., where
Mr. Cayce was employed to diagnose brother's case, and a
course of treatment was instituted, since which time he has
improved wonderfully, and seems to be on the road to ultimate
recovery.
"He scarcely, if ever, has any more spells and they are
hardly perceptible, while he formerly had quite a number
each day, falling any place he might happen to be, ofttimes
sustaining painful injuries.
"We have ample reasons to believe that through the mystic
power of young Mr. Cayce a permanent cure shall be
consummated."
Case [
34] has been put into Group I.
