This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of February, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - [69], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. [69] and [993].

TEXT

1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [69] present in this room, who seeks information, advice and guidance, as to how she may be a perfect channel, physically, mentally and spiritually, for fulfilling the purpose for which she entered this experience. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [69], this we have had before.
3. In giving advice or counsel, regarding making the body a channel for manifestations of HIS purposes with thee, - as is understood by the entity, there is that within self which when attuned to the divine is filled with the renewal of life forces, life influences and purposes. Yet there is the continual warring of flesh, or materiality, with the spiritual influences.
4. As we have indicated heretofore, and as we find existent in the present, there are physical disturbances of such natures as to hinder or to prevent that full realization of the abid- ing presence of the Christ-Consciousness. Yet there is the realization that it IS, that it exists, that it helps, and that it is the ONLY source of healing for a physical or a mental body.
5. Yet how may there be that attuning to that divinity, that promise?
6. By emptying self of all that so easily besets, and DOING, being that as fully known, fully comprehended by the entity.
7. Then know - as those of old, through their experience of material disturbance, mental unrest - if thou art willing, He will direct. Then let Him have His way with thee.
8. For, as is understood, He hath not willed that any soul should perish; yet because there are disturbances of a physical, material or mental nature, one oft doubts, and fears arise. These beget those influences that prevent the proper attunement.
9. To be sure, such oft appears at variance to that comprehended or experienced by others, or visioned in the experience of others. Yet know that by thine own individuality, thine own purpose, He is mindful of thee; and as ye find - thyself that way He hath conceived as the better for the fulfilling of the purpose for which ye entered this experience. For, ye WOULD be one with Him.
10. Then, let that mind be in thee as was in Him. Those who rebuked Him for the needs of suffering, He rebuked in no uncertain manner.
11. Thus each entity, each individual, must realize this through the own attunement. Ye must KNOW that He walks with thee. And, as has been indicated, there should come that experience of thy HEARING His voice. When in attune ye will, ye do. For, as He has given, "I stand at the door and knock; if ye will open, I will enter."
12. This is to be, this IS then an individual experience - for each soul that seeks His presence.
13. Think not that He has not heard, because it has not yet appeared so, or because thou hast not yet heard Him save in the lives and the experiences of those thou hast helped.
14. Seek not then thy way of manifestations, but more and more, "Here am I, Lord; use me, send me. Point the way that thou would have me go."
15. This is a promise to thee, to each soul; yet each soul must of itself FIND the answer within self. For indeed the body is the temple of the living God. There He has promised to meet thee; there He does. And as thy body, thy mind, thy soul is attuned to that divine as answers within, so may ye indeed be quickened to know His purpose; and ye may fill that purpose for which ye entered this experience.
16. It is not then by justifying but in GLORIFYING the good, the true, the beautiful, that thou hast seen in Him.
17. Belittle not those things that hinder. These are a part of thy cross, of that necessary; else He, according to His promise, would not allow these to be a part of thy awareness.
18. For, know - as He hath given - "Lo, I am with thee always, even unto the end." This is not a mere saying, but an awareness which one may find through that attuning through meditation, through prayer, through the opening of self for direction by Him.
19. Ready for questions.
20. (Q) Regarding the Physical: Please advise as to diet.
    (A) As we find, as there ARE those hindrances in the assimilating system that cause a gastric overflow, it is necessary that in the diet the oils, fats and greases be eliminated to a great extent. For, this is the cause of that shortcircuiting - as it might be called - of the circulation between the liver and the heart; causing at times a feeling as of a fullness to the head, dizziness, which prevents that feeling of remaining steady. It is the upsetting in the gall duct area.
    Thus we would leave off fried foods or fats of any nature.
    We would add those foods that tend to make the eliminations improved; that is, fruits - fresh or raw, as well as cooked; and we would include those that produce better eliminations, - figs, raisins, grapes, pears, and the like.
    Again we would take ALCAROID as an aid to digestion, but only a bit after the heavier meal of the day - not after each meal but after the heavier meal each day.
    Also, preferably with or right after the heavier meal of the day - whether night, morning or noon - we would take five to six drops of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin stirred in water.
    Once each week we would add with this a teaspoonful of Milk of Bismuth stirred in half a glass of water, but adding at this time ten drops of the Pepsin, see? these stirred together in the water and taken. This is to absorb poisons through the system.
    To be sure, it may be asked here, WHY does the system keep producing refuse or poison, - when the body attunes self, and the body desires health, and the body keeps in accord with that which is of a spiritual import?
    This is a result of disobedience of LAWS, - not only in the present; for LIFE is the whole, not an individual experience!
    For, impulses arise, and tendencies; and ye would be every WHIT whole!
    Remember, as He gave, "The heavens and the earth will pass away - my word shall NOT pass away; but ye shall give ACCOUNT for every DEED done in the body!"
    Hence we find LAW. Law is love, yes - as love is law; yet God is not mocked, whatsoever ye sow, that must ye reap. If ye reap it in HIM, He bears the cross with you.
    In the purifying of the system, remember it is the active principle of these influences indicated that works WITH the divine within - as with that law - to produce ATTUNEMENT to a normal balance IN an individual entity. Thus, what is at times to some upsetting is to another creating a balance.
    Occasionally, especially the day after the Bismuth is taken, use the enema or colonic irrigation, - body temperature; but to each quart of water put a level teaspoonful of salt and half a teaspoonful of soda, dissolved THOROUGHLY. This will aid in KEEPING nearer to a normal balance this circulation that produces this dizziness, this strain between the heart and liver, in the present condition of the physical body. We would use one of these at least the day after the Bismuth is taken - each week, you see.
21. (Q) What is the source of the poison or acidity in the blood stream?
    (A) Congestion in the liver and gall duct area.
22. (Q) Do my teeth, or the urine, have anything to do with this?
    (A) The conditions in the teeth, and the disturbance in the lower hepatics or kidneys, are RESULTS rather than causes.
23. (Q) Should I have my teeth removed?
    (A) We would purify the system FIRST and we will have less trouble with the removal of teeth, and the results would be better - if this is decided upon.
24. (Q) If the skin irritation should occur again, what should be done to relieve it?
    (A) Use the Balsam in the Stearate of Zinc Powder.
25. (Q) Have I been taking too much Alcaroid?
    (A) Been taking it irregularly, and at times too much.
26. (Q) Regarding the Mental and Spiritual: Is there any specific work I should be stressing in my activity at this time?
    (A) This had best come from that as the body-entity receives in its OWN meditation, rather than being directed by any outside influence. For, it is the willingness, the desire, the try that is counted in the righteousness of each entity, each soul. And these directions are from Him, as direction is sought.
27. (Q) How may I overcome the innate doubt or fear which prevents attunement with the Christ, as promised?
    (A) Just keeping on keeping on in the trust - trust - in Him! No DIRECT way may be experienced for self by another, - and yet the entity finds self very oft close to being directed in that way. Hold fast to Him! Let that which causes doubt or fear be taken up in the willingness, the desire, to be of help to others.
