This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of December, 1925, in accordance with request made by her husband, [900].

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.

TEXT

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [136] of New York City, and the dreams this body had on the dates which I will give you. You will give the interpretation and lessons of each of these, as I read same to you, and you will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding same.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [136]. This we have had before. The dreams which come are in the nature of those experiences that may be used in the way and manner as has been given to the entity. Ready for dreams.
3. (Q) Monday night, December 7, or Tuesday morning, December 8, 1925. "Saw a big sign with word 'Warning' on it. It said on the sign: 'Warning - Stop.'"
   (A) This again indicates those warnings which have been given aforetime, concerning the self, in the relations to that for which the body is preparing self, and in the way and manner as has been given should be heeded, see? The whole, then, being this: As the body-mind has considered, in the way and manner, some warnings, some suggestions, the subconscious of the entity takes on same and present same in this vision. Then heed.
4. (Q) Stop what?
   (A) That as has been given. Be more careful with the diet. Be more careful with the action of self regarding the physical forces of the body as they are to manifest in the physical world.
5. (Q) Am I performing my correct duties as wife to [900]?
   (A) Very good. Not to bring censure from here, see?
6. (Q) What is wrong in my trying to gain love of [900]'s mother?
   (A) Nothing in the way of that condition, save in some manners as may be - these are of a different and not warning from this, see?
7. (Q) Night of Tuesday, December 8. "[900] and I at White Sulphur again, where we were on our honeymoon. It seemed very expensive and the hotel manager pointed out one particular person who was supposed to have come long ago, taking up the reservation made, but instead the individual came about one month late. 'She owes me money and never pays her bills,' the proprietor told me."
   (A) That in the physical mind weighing those conditions that have been brought to a physical aspect of the conditions existent in some ways. And the various conditions in the experience of the present position are presented, then, in this emblematical manner to entity, see? These should be as only those conditions as would be left to others, rather than using self in an undue manner towards same, see? for as is seen in many conditions to be considered, such brings worry to self and should not be so at the present time, for formations of mental forces as attributes toward those natures as are to be exhibited are being made. Then there becomes that filial duty as to be fulfilled by others towards this entity, which should be taken from another condition entirely, see? but don't worry self. Not as a non-entity, not as one not taking interest, but let the first and foremost thoughts of self be towards that duty which is owed and due to those yet to come.
8. (Q) Thursday night, December 10, or Friday morning, December 11. "Numbers: 16.50 and 23."
   (A) Again we find numbers entering into the entity's forces in that of psychological reasoning in material plane. These, as we find, giving, then, an insight to various conditions, as will be seen later, see? Just, as it were, a glimpse of conditions as to be presented, and the addition to the integral number will give those impressions as are seen from this, and should be used only as a study, see?
9. (Q) "Saw bottles of different perfumes in front of me."
   (A) Presenting, then, the various forms of expression of individual actions in self and others, and only an emblematical condition. For as these represent certain conditions and elements to the entity, so does the action, the attitude, of various individuals present different mental reactions to the entity. And so does self present the various mental reactions, for as is seen, not only in this vision are the various perfumes, but the odors from same seem to permeate the atmosphere, and the intermingling of each brings these sensations to the individual of their action, see?
10. (Q) "Dreaming, said out loud, '[900], don't eat so many coats.'"
    (A) As this presents an unreasonable condition in that as said, it presents an unreasonable attitude of the individual towards [900] in some respect. Then be in that manner not unreasonable, see?
11. (Q) Night of Friday, December 11, or morning of Saturday, December 12. "Heard the ringing of a telephone bell and answered, saying out loud so [900] heard: 'Don't you hear the telephone ringing? - Hello!'"
    (A) A message - a message - it has come!
12. (Q) "Saw the back yard of a building and a woman sitting or leaning out of one of the windows. She had wonderful long golden hair. 'What is back there?' I asked."
    (A) Again the message, which is come, brings to the entity some confusion, as is seen in questions asked of a different surrounding from that which has been and is compatible with the conditions existent in the mind of the entity. And as these various conditions arise, then, let those truths gained in psychological, psychic, and in the various mental studies of entity, be the answer as is found through these sources, see?
13. (Q) Sunday morning, December 13. "Dreamed Dr. Holbrook in New Orleans said I had cancer and should have certain rays applied to my back that go through the back into the stomach. Was so frightened at the terrible news of cancer that I cried."
    (A) In this there is presented the emblematical condition of the growth as is taken on in the individual; not as of cancer, but as that which is as all-absorbing in the individual as the cancer is in its nature to the mental mind of individuals. And as same is seen by the one in whom the entity has faith, as the cure for many things, same will be found that this, in presenting itself to the individual, will bring much joy, much pain; much sorrow and exaltation in the wonderful gift that is supplied to man and mankind through the efforts of the body of this entity, see? As is seen in the horror as is felt in that this has come to the individual, then as these forces manifest themselves through this entity, let those of the higher elements be as but the guide, the light, the way, the truth to the entity, for in this, as has been said of old, in the gift of the forces as supplied through these channels comes the greater gifts to the world.
14. (Q) Monday morning, December 14. "I was on my way to college, riding on the street car. Now there were certain problems that I had to do for my lessons in college but had not been able to do. These ran through my mind as I noticed three other people on the car besides myself. First, a young man was staring at me, and I interpreted the stare as impudent - obtrusive. 'I hope you know me the next time you see me,' I said to him, trying to repulse him. 'Just for that,' he replied, 'I am going to get off where you do!' Then I noticed two Christian girls who lived in the same house as I did and also went to college. They would not notice me, being in their estimation socially inferior. All four of us got off the car but we still had many blocks to walk and seeing the man follow me, I went up to the two girls and asked them wouldn't they please let me join them, as this man was annoying me and I sought their companionship for protection against him. Sort of safety in numbers idea. They consented and then a change appeared, for the young man, instead of appearing as one who would do me harm, appeared as one who helped me solve those problems I previously could not do."
    (A) In this we find the emblematical conditions as of that through which the individual is passing at the present stage in its physical forces, which again is presented in the way, or in the passage, or going to college, see? And as is seen, there comes those conditions which to the entity present problems that in the mental forces of same are not able to be seen as to the answer for same. There is the appeal then to others to help against this condition; yet, as is seen in the termination, that in same, in the meeting of these conditions, in the going to those who may supply that beneficent aid, through the mental forces and the mental application of mind as to itself and its self-indulgence and its self satisfaction in the forces as are applied, in that trial through which the entity is and must pass, there comes in same the answer to many, to yea all, the conditions as in the entity's life. Do well, then, in studying this and making the direct application to self in many different ways. For as is seen in the appeal to those whom the entity feels that the individuals, on account of their position or beliefs in certain dogmas, feel a change or a difference in the social position, through same, and through such channels, will be found to indicate those forces which, if applied in the life of the individual, bring the greater truths as are seen and as may be applied in the life of self, in the life of those who are dependent directly and indirectly upon the entity for its actions and walks in and out before men.
15. (Q) Who or what is represented in young man?
    (A) The condition to be met.
16. (Q) What significance in Christian girls?
    (A) As given.
17. (Q) What are my particular or most difficult problems as related of course to myself?
    (A) The condition present.
18. (Q) What mis-conception on my part is here indicated, blocking my solving this problem?
    (A) Those as are outlined in that as given.
19. (Q) How may I better think and act to afford a solution?
    (A) Along those lines as have been given and as is given here, see?
20. (Q) Sunday night, December 13. "Dreamed [900] and I were in the movies and [900] received $19,000 for his services and I $11,000."
    (A) The action of the mental forces towards the application of conditions as presented to those subconscious forces in that which is acting in the mind of the entity. And as is seen in this, there is that force being manifest through these two individuals that, when presented to the populace or masses, as is represented by the movies, there is seen then the magnanimous conception of the peoples for the service being rendered to them through the efforts of same. And as has been given, through these efforts many people would and will call these two blessed. Then keep that way that these my manifest and magnify through those efforts. while, as we find, this calls for sacrifice in many ways on the part of each; yet, as is seen in this, the reward - GREAT - even in the physical or financial way and manner, as dollars present the criterion of success to the individual.
