a day will use this opportunity to write. Have been ill
before but never like I have been for the last five weeks.
Have been nauseated for 3 months and the last five weeks have
been vomiting and the first two weeks out of the five I
vomited day and night until I thought I would die, and in
that time of two weeks I couldn't even drink water, as the
thoughts of it made my stomach feel like it was turning
upside down. The last two weeks of the five, some days I
don't vomit at all and then others I will vomit
2-3 times. I
was too ill to write or to have anyone write for me, or I
could have gotten aid before now and am thankful that I can
write to you.
"The doctors did all they could to stop the vomiting but
nothing has completely checked it so far. Saur Kraut juice
was the first thing that would stay down and then that got to
burning me after vomiting and the nurse and doctor decided to
try Fermillac. I don't know whether you are familiar with
that or not. It is the raw whole milk with some kind of a
bacteria that blends with the digestive juices and is easily
digested by very delicate stomaches. So it has been
explained to me. Will find out more about it when I am able.
Started with 1/2 oz. at a time and how soothing, and then an
hour after that alternating with the Kraut juice. Once in a
while would take spells of drinking ice water. Couldn't
stand anything near me that was hot. Just craved icy things
and in health I prefer water as it comes out of the tap, I
mean as for temperature. Didn't have any food for over three
weeks and was acting as if I would go into convulsions.
Seems like Fermillac is my mainstay. Have had Melba toast
but everything seems to start a terrible burning in my
stomach and comes up in my throat and if I should take any
food or liquid, then the burning would be terrible. At the
beginning of the nausea 3 months ago I started spitting froth
and it made me deathly ill to swallow it and then after the
siege of vomiting have been spitting slimy saliva. Sometimes
after drinking water it is more of a liquid and froth. It
averages a quart or more some days and the saliva just flows
in as fast as I can spit it out, and for many nights, days
too, I didn't get any sleep as the saliva would go down my
throat starting the vomiting again. Never vomited much over
half dozen times in my life until now. Can't understand it
as at the beginning of this illness I weighed 124 lbs. and
was getting along so nicely. Hope I have made myself plain
enough here so you will understand it. I am still very weak
and the thought of food or the smell of anything just makes
me feel as if my digestive tract was just gathered into a
ball. This continuous spitting just wears me out. While
these terrible vomiting spells were raging, my neck and
shoulders, back and chest to my waist broke out in a red rash
- was that an acid condition? It has nearly all disappeared
now and scaled off. On top of this I almost had pneumonia
and am just about over a 3 weeks siege of that. Haven't run
a temperature for over a week. Haven't had a cold for five
years. It has been an epidemic here. The doctor had it and
of course my vitality was so low that he gave it to me.
"Mr. Cayce, I am wondering if you will please give me a rdg.
as quickly as possible and let me go on with my $2 a month
until it is paid, as I have been out so much and I had to
scrape enough to pay the nurse on my small allowance. Am
enclosing my dues for Nov. and Dec. Had the nurse get the
one on Nov. 12th but wasn't able to send it and will have the
other one early to make up for the tardy one...
[She submitted questions, including:]
"What is the condition of the uterus? Is it giving me any
trouble? Was told that I had a fibroid tumor the size of an
egg inside the uterus. If it is troubling me what is the
cure? ...
"P.S. Vomited pure thick bile also. What makes everything
taste sweet, even water? and a while after vomiting I have
an awful sweet taste. Please don't hesitate telling me of
any condition as I am not afraid and it won't worry me, as I
am not the worrying kind."

around my apt. but still there is something wrong, as you
will find in the rdg. As yet, nothing tastes right and a
very few things that I can eat, as the thoughts of other
foods just turn my stomach upside down. The foods that I
desire, regardless of their digestibility, I have no trouble
in digesting them. Some of the foods are beets, slightly
tart by a little wine vinegar, but very weak solution, saur
kraut, Fermillac, whole wheat cereal, a Dr. Jackson's meal,
with butter, whole wheat toast with butter, eggs, junket and
cup custard but little of the last two on account of being
sweet. Also almonds, pecans, a very mild sour pickle. There
is not a food that I dislike but at this time seems like the
above mentioned ones are the ones that keep me going and they
don't taste right either...
"Am grateful to be up and hope to get relief soon. Will
appreciate anything that you may do for me, and wish to thank
you in advance."

that it didn't come in time to do me any good. It certainly
would have benefited me had it been done when I was so ill.
A little over two years ago I had a fall which dislocated my
hip and just found that it had just been partially set and
you can imagine what havoc a condition like that can play
with one's anatomy. It was far worse than a broken bone as
it takes so much longer for recovery. Just a day or so after
I wrote you the doctor discovered the trouble and after my
hip was completely set I began to improve almost immediately.
I eat like I was starved and now weigh 121 lbs. Never gained
so fast in my life and food seems to agree and is perfectly
digested. I am so happy that I can be up and around now.
After my hip was set I had severe pain for awhile and had to
stay quiet in bed and now I will have to go slowly for
awhile.
"Wish to thank you again for the rdg. and am so sorry it
didn't reach me in time.
"Am enclosing my regular monthly dues and sorry to be a
little tardy but I have not felt well enough to write."

3-4 months yet before I am myself. But it will be
something to be entirely well again; after waiting so long
can be patient that much longer. Will write you more later
and let you know what progress I am making...
"Trust that some of the people I told about you have received
help from you by this time. Suppose you are very busy...
"Am grateful for my daily bread and try to help others with
my meager allowance. Seems like no matter how hard the
battle, there is always a way to meet these situations as
they present themselves...
"Thank you again for all your kindness and help and when I
possibly can will waft a few pennies your way to help others
and you and the Ass'n."
