This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 19th day of October, 1926, in accordance with request made by her sister, Miss [...], and her mother. Mrs. [...].

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here.
2. Now, we find there are those abnormal conditions with this body, and in the present condition may be corrected, with care - persistent care. In the existent condition there are are specific troubles, and these troubles, in the diffused manner in which they affect the nerve system, bring to the muscular forces and brain centers a reaction that is improper and abnormal for the body.
3. In the first condition, we find there are some prenatal [karmic?] conditions to be considered, and other conditions as were produced by physical conditions as were seen in the body at the time of birth. These were those conditions, for the pressure as produced in the presentation brought to certain cervicals that non-alignment which produces a pressure, not so much on the cerebrospinal cord as on that of the gland situated at the base of the brain. This, then, is the cause of the character of repression and the variation in their severity, and the apparent cause of that as brings about the cycle of the vibration for, as we see, the pineal gland is affected. This affects directly that condition as produced in the cervical and in the lumbar as was experienced at the time of birth, with the umbilicus or navel center, and this cold, congestion, this improper healing of pressures through the central brain of body, that causes the disturbance, see?
4. Then, to bring about the normal forces for the body will consist in those of CONSISTENT keeping up of these conditions as given, and of the changes as will be necessary as conditions develop, for the body will develop normally, and these will come farther and farther apart, until they will be very rare, if ever re-occurring in the system.
5. First, through the manipulation, OSTEOPATHICALLY given, correct those conditions in the cervical region, aligning same in reference to the solar plexus vertebras, as well as the upper dorsal and rest of the cervical, especially that condition in the 1st and 2nd cervical, that in the 11th and 12th dorsal. These need be given once or twice each week, but kept for at least fifty-six (56) such adjustments and treatments.
6. Taking during that period also, and longer if found necessary, those properties as found in Mayapple Bitters - Daniels' [John B. Daniels'] Mayapple Bitters [Maypop Bitters?], see? Take half a teaspoonful, and this should be taken after each meal, or before each meal should the body desire to make the change - at least this is to give, with the foods that are taken, sufficient of nerve nutriment to overcome that condition as is seen by cellular rebuildings that have to do with the glands, and especially of the pineal gland. 7. Taking also during this same period - though this should be begun about fourteen (14) days after the treatments and medicinal properties are given - those vibrations to the umbilicus - see, as the negative pole, and through which the vibration of those properties as will be taken in the system - that vibration from the Radio-Active Appliance, using the iodine solution as the vibration for the system, as the body is near to that development as comes to one of its age - sex, see? and this will also produce the equilibrium necessary in the system, see? The strength of the solution - using TINCTURE Iodine, one (1) ounce, and to that add one (1) ounce pure grain alcohol, see? using then a two (2) ounce vial for the anode through which the vibration goes to the umbilicus. This would be placed at the right upper and right side one time, the upper and left, see, the next time. The other anode, or positive, that would be attached first, would be one time to the ankle, the next time to the wrist, and from different sides of the body each time, see? If begun with that on the right ankle, then the next day (for it would be given an hour each day, as the body lies down to rest, see?) it would be to the left wrist, the next day to the opposite ankle, next day to the opposite wrist - or to wrist first, the ankle next, you see - these changed about.
8. When this has been taken and followed out for at least sixty to ninety (60 to 90) days, we would give the changes as are seen, for we will find this will prove beneficial in EVERY way to the mental and normal physical development of the body.
9. Do that.
10. (Q) What should the anode be made of that is used in the iodine? [See [1800] series.]
    (A) Lead, as in each and every one. German silver or nickel for those as to be attached to the wrist and ankle, and to the umbilicus - large plate for the umbilicus, see, as has been given. These kept polished, and the connections in proper order - using plenty of ice in the jar or crock, see - these should never be used in any except crock or glass, for the ice and anode, see?

1. 8/25/26 Sister's letter: "I have a sister 13 years old who has had spells of epilepsy since she was 8 months old. At first the spells were light but for the last few years have been harder. My parents have taken her to doctors and specialists all over south Georgia, but none of them can cure her. Some say she has epilepsy, others don't seem to know what it is. Mr. [287] of ..., Florida urged my uncle to write you about her. He gave a good recommendation and was confident that you could help her."
2. 10/01/26 Mother wrote verifying appointment: "Dope is the only relief she gets [from these falling spells], and of course that isn't any lasting good. I sincerely hope your reading will cure her... We have 9 children and all are normal except [179]... She is anxious to see the 19th come and is hoping you will cure her."

REPORTS

1. 10/20/26 EC wrote: "The Mayapple Bitters, I understand, is prepared by someone in Atlanta [John B. Daniels]. I'm sure you can get it from any drug store there.

3. 7/60 Dr. Walter N. Pahnke's comment on Case [179] in making a study of 96 cases of epilepsy from the Edgar Cayce readings: "This case was classified in group 2. Diagnosis of epilepsy could be implied only by the information given in the letter of the parents. The reading described abnormal nerve forces, but not any pathology in the lacteal duct region. The pineal gland was also mentioned, however."
