(Q) Should he make on behalf of the ... Industries, Inc.
a proposal to Algernon Blair, a contractor of Montgomery,
Ala., to buy the stone plant of the Mizner Industries, Inc.,
and if so what terms, conditions, and price?
(A) As indicated, this consideration or connection is well;
but if there is the prospect or the ability to make such
associations or connections with the banking interest (that
these connections such as Blair may be made in), there would
be FURNISHED the material at a price that would allow the
operations to make not more than a living or redemption
wage. Then other associations or connections of the same
nature may be made, see? So that, rather than SELLING same,
may there not be made those associations and connections in
SUPPLYING same to the various interests who have the various
connections? As may be made with those of the building
stones, or builders that supply stones in the various
centers where construction is going on - see?
(Q) How best to approach these?
(A) Go direct to the banking interests! DIRECTLY, in
person! For, while the considerations must be given to
those that are considered somewhat of superiors in the
connection with the present corporation or organization,
if these are considered as BEING those superior in ability
there will not be the SAME consideration given by the banking
interest! Hence go to them direct! Not as one that is
UNDERMINING the others, but that their interest is there
(the bank's) and they must establish their position; that
is, the bank. Then as to the ones that are capable of hand-
ling the situation! For, a RUNNING plant is worth much more
to the bank than one sold on the block!
We are through for the present.

REPORTS
3/07/33 He wrote: "There seems to be a fighting chance to
work out the problems of the company - at any rate the
scheduled sheriff's sale has not yet taken place as was to
be yesterday. Our V.P. got out, and they expect to give me
the place, altho at present it carries very little prospect
with it."
4/04/33 He wrote: "Your several readings for me have quite
valuable, and I have been guided by them. The advice about
what to do about the bank was promptly done, and I realize
now that it was the thing to do. The tonic too has put me
in considerably better shape, and I am continuing it, unless
otherwise instructed. There is no doubt but what the
business condition in which I was placed was contributing to
the turmoil of my mind and body, and your advice has helped
me in that way.
There has arisen a few major problems in our business which
we are gradually solving. Two or three have been worked out,
but I believe the most vexing is now before us. If you wish
to take one more turn at guiding me along the proper lines
you certainly would be doing me a great favor, and if you
feel that you can consistently do so, I would like mighty
well to have you do it. It's got me worried no little, and
I can scarcely get it off my mind night or day. It is
causing me much restlessness at night, and is the absorbing
burden of my thought by day." [He submitted questions.]
4/06/33 EC gave him Rdg.
228-5. [See subsequent health
notations under
228-3 Reports.]
