TEXT

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes.
3. As we find, the cold, the congestion which exists is rather deep; and has continued and does continue to produce a good deal of disturbance through the bronchi and larynx; that is, for coughing; and there is some inflammation in the pleura.
4. As we find, then, of evenings it would be well to place Antiphlogistine over the bronchi, - that is, from the throat here down to the 2nd, 3rd or 4th rib center, see? all the throat and across the lower area of both pulmonary capsules, or the lower end of the lungs.
5. When this is taken off of a morning, massage the area thoroughly with an equal combination of Mutton Suet, Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor. Then bathe same in tepid water. Then massage same with grain alcohol; not rubbed too much, but rubbed off just with the hand so as to close the pores, see?
6. Then be mindful that there is not too violent an exercise, that there is the keeping of the feet dry, that there is sufficient air at all times about the body so that there is full respiration.
7. As an expectorant and a healer for the lungs, and for the cold, we would prepare this:
8. To a tablespoonful of Strained Honey add three tablespoonsful of Water. Let this come almost to a boil, sufficient to take out all of the impurities. Skim off then that which rises to the top. Then when this has cooled - not entirely cold but when cooled - add to this, as the carrier, two ounces of Pure Apple Brandy. Then add these other ingredients in the order as named:

   Syrup of Horehound.................1/2 ounce,
Compound Tincture of Benzoin........45 minims (or drops),
Syrup of Ipecac.....................20 minims.

9. Shake this solution before a dose is taken. Do not take it closer together than two hours, unless there is a violent fit of coughing, and not more than a quarter to a half teaspoonful at the dose.
10. These as we find should eliminate the condition, if there are the precautions taken that the eliminations are kept going. It would be better for these that there be the Alophen taken of an evening, with one or two Aspirin tablets; but do not - when these other properties are being taken as the cough - syrup take spirits frumenti or brandy with same - it would produce too much sweating, see? This, the Alophen and Aspirin, taken for two or three evenings SHOULD produce better eliminations AND take off the cold and congestion which has been part of the accumulations in colon and alimentary canal.
11. Not too great a quantity of foods, and mostly liquids and semi-liquids should be taken; but most all of them WARM; not hot, or not overhot, but warm.
12. Do these for the better conditions of this body.
13. Ready for questions.
14. (Q) What causes soreness in left side of face and neck?
    (A) This is a reaction from the muscular forces along the vagus nerves.
15. (Q) The terrible ache under shoulders and between them?
    (A) As indicated, this is the pleura area; and over these put the Antiphlogistine of evenings, but be sure those precautions are taken when same is removed of morning, as indicated, see? [Pleurisy?]
16. (Q) Should the Antiphlogistine be also put on the back?
    (A) Wherever there is pain, see?
17. (Q) Why do I not sleep comfortably?
    (A) The effect of the poisons in the system.
18. Do these as we find, for the best conditions in the present.
19. We are through for the present.

Immediately when a cold in the chest was detected, I would rub equal portions of the above on the chest while warm and put a flannel over it. In the morning it would be cleared up. This was also used on a child who had a severe cough for five weeks. Immediate results were obtained. I was amazed."
