3/25/33 Father's letter: "I am taking up the treatments
directed by Mr. Cayce. Dr. Richardson has been treating
him since February, and I must say that I know he has done
him good. Of course he has been sick once while in Dr.
Richardson's care, but nothing like he has been, and I hope
that at the given time, around six to eight weeks of the
treatments, we will see all the difference in the world in
him.
"Of course I know you all need money to carry on the good
work which Mr. Cayce is doing. But right now I am in bad
condition myself, having had so many doctors tending him and
hospital bills have kept me broke. I haven't been able yet
to pay Dr. Richardson any on his account, but in about three
more weeks I will be able to pay you all for the rdg. and
also help along on the good work you all are doing. Although
I haven't been down to Va. Beach since that day, my heart and
soul are entirely on Mr. Cayce."
"P.S. My son is sitting right at the table while I am
writing now. He says he wants to write Mr. Cayce a few
words, too."
3/26/33 Father's P.S: "After sealing up this letter last
night, my son was taken sick at ten o'clock. He has had
eleven attacks up until nine-thirty this morning."
3/03/34 A.R.E. Sec'ty, Mildred Davis, wrote the child's
father:
"We have written you repeatedly concerning your account, but
have rec'd no answer from you. Can it be possible that you
are indifferent? Otherwise you could write and tell us why
you cannot pay SOMETHING, so that we may know the reason.
You say your boy received help. We are glad, and we hope he
remains healthy and strong. However, Mr. Cayce has found it
necessary to take a rest from his strenuous labors, and this,
of course, causes it to be necessary that we collect all that
is owing that it is possible to collect, in order that we may
carry on in his absence." [GD's note: EC went to Arizona
with T. M. Hastings, Jr.]
5/28/37 Esther Wynne reported: "The boy [
251] was having
convulsions one right after the other. Dr. W. B. Martin
[M.D.] saw the rdg., said 'Well, I wouldn't throw it away.'
The mother went to visit her parents and didn't follow the
rdg. right away. The child continued to have convulsions,
even with following everything the doctors suggested.
Finally they went to Dr. M. L. Richardson [D.O.] and had
treatments. The child is perfectly normal today. However,
Dr. Richardson has never been paid for the treatments,
neither has the Ass'n rec'd one penny for the rdg."
9/16/60 GD's note: Death notice of [
251]'s mother appeared
today, saying she died
9/15/60, a widow, leaving one son,
[
251].
7/60 In Dr. Walter N. Pahnke's breakdown of 96 cases of
epilepsy from the Edgar Cayce records, Case [
251] was
classified in Group I. He noted: "The description sounded
like petit mal type epilepy."
