1/30/26 Minutes of a staff meeting called by Edgar Cayce:
On this 30th day of January, 1926, we four - Edgar Cayce,
Gertrude Cayce, Hugh Lynn Cayce and Gladys Davis - determine
to study, systematically, the data as obtained in readings
given by Edgar Cayce while in the psychic state, to record
any truths or facts found therein, and laws regulating the
same, if there be such.
Question: Why do we believe the bulk of such data is of
value as a study?
Answer: BECAUSE, when help from all other sources had
failed, each of us received individual physical benefits
for bodily ills from the same, and we have also seen others
benefitted.
BECAUSE such data received made us think, and think, and
think, as never before.
BECAUSE we believe that, through a further study of such
information, we will be better able to help others.
BECAUSE we find that it conforms to the teachings of the
Master, and we believe that a study of the Edgar Cayce
readings will help us to apply the Master's life and
teachings in our everyday life.
The first class of reading we shall study is the Physical
Reading. We have observed from this class of reading that
the following rules are necessary to obtain the best results
from it.
1. There must be the sincere desire of the person wishing
the assistance (or of one responsible for the moral and
spiritual development of the individual), because the
individual, through the desire, places its subconscious
mind in a position where Edgar Cayce's subconscious may
be attuned with it.
Then, Edgar Cayce must be able through the subconscious to
gain from the subconscious of the individual a knowledge
of the physical ills of that individual seeking (for the
subconscious of an individual controls the physical); and
he is then able through the same force to gain the knowledge
of the experiences of the subconscious, thereby giving that
necessary for the cure of the physical ills of the body, and
gain from the all-knowing power within the entity that which
will be of assistance to it.
This also applies in the case where one is responsible for
the spiritual, mental and moral development of the
individual; for through the desire of that individual the
subconscious may contact the subconscious of the person
needing the assistance.
2. There must be sufficient faith in the work, and report
of the same, to carry out the suggestions given, to the
letter, as far as possible. For, when there has been the
failure to comply with the mental, physical, moral or
spiritual laws, there must be the complying with other
laws to counterbalance the existing conditions.
3. There must be the sincere belief in the divine forces
innate in each individual, for this is necessary if the
individual would gain a concept of ALL the good that it is
possible to obtain.
When the person desiring the reading cooperates to the best
of his ability, through (or with) the above three rules,
a Physical Reading with the following characteristics is
obtained:
a. It describes the abnormal conditions existing in the body,
and the cause of these.
b. It outlines the treatment, or a course of treatments, to
pursue to correct the abnormal conditions. These suggested
treatments may cover or include several schools of healing,
apparently according to the needs of the individual; for each
finds that the reading applies to his individual condition.
c. If the suggested treatments are followed the individual
receives physical benefits, and there is also created in the
mind of the person the realization of unseen forces
manifesting.
General observations: There are specific appliances and
medicines that have been given through these readings that
may be used universally for the benefit of mankind.
THE RADIO-ACTIVE APPLIANCE, with various connections for
specific conditions, has been recommended for such ailments
as goitre, anemia, neuritis, catarrh, sick headache,
debility, nervousness, insomnia, rheumatism, neuralgia, etc.
This appliance operates on the theory of atomic vibration,
creating an equalization of metabolism throughout the system,
correcting the functioning of deranged organs without
taxation to any. There are numerous instances where this
Radio-Active Appliance has proven its worth.
IPSAB - a suggested remedy for pyorrhea and/or bleeding gums
- is apparently founded on the germ theory. The combined
ingredients in the formula are to be applied locally for
destroying the germ, and also for increasing circulation
to the gums and teeth. In every case where this Ipsab has
been tried (except where the disease has reached such a stage
that the nerve itself has become involved or infected) it
has proven a successful remedy, used by many dentists as
well as laymen.
OTHER SPECIFIC REMEDIES may prove just as effective. Certain
specifics have been given in the readings (to be combined
with other suggested treatments) for the various stages of
diabetes, tuberculosis, cancer, etc., and if these were
tested they might prove as effective as the Radio-Active
Appliance and Ipsab have proven in their specific usage.
We feel there is a great need for laboratory research in
this phase of work.
The next class of reading we will study is the Life Reading.
