(Q) Will it be necessary for [
257] to go to see Grove in
Nova Scotia?
(A) Necessary provided [
257] has sufficient of the
proposition in hand to present a feasible outlay to the body
Grove, or provided [
257] has a definite proposition to lay
before the body Grove. By the continued working towards this
end, this should be consummated in the meeting as is to be
held Monday - 29th - July. That then leaves the 30th, 31st,
and to the 3rd, for the final closing of proposition. Should
the conditions as arise in this meeting necessitate the delay
for three to five days, then necessary to communicate
directly with Grove, then personally present the proposition.
Do that.
(Q) What should [
257]'s attitude be at this meeting?
(A) That definite promises have been made from both sides,
and necessary that a definite answer now be given, so that
this may not hold up matters at this time. See, there's an
obligation on the part of others as well as on the part of
[
257] - though as has been given, [
257] represents both sides
of the proposition - but insist that these be gotten
together.
(Q) What day will be best for [
257] to be there, in Nova
Scotia?
(A) The day when he has the definite proposition, as has
been given!
(Q) Considering Grove's desire, what is necessary
consideration for final sale of the company in its entirety?
(A) How oft this has been given!
(Q) Should [
257] take Lande, his attorney, with him to Nova
Scotia?
(A) If it's necessary that the proposition be explained in
detail by such an one, take him. Not as a prize, not as one
that will bring any influence, other than in presenting or
representing certain interests.
(Q) What statement should be made to bring Grove to the
final act of signing his desire to sell and statement he will
sell?
(A) That, that the body has made the proposition to dispose.
This is only repeating just what has been given! There are
obligations made on both sides. Just get them together!
(Q) What banker will be the final one with whom deal is
handled?
(A) As has been given, there has been one stipulated. This
does not necessarily mean the ONLY one, but that one will, in
a manner, dictate - no matter who this is handled through.
(Q) General McRoberts of Chatham-Phoenix Bank wants [
257] to
go direct to see the president of Postum Cereal Co. - E. H.
Hutton - to sell them the proposition. Please advise us as
to proper handling of this to keep friendship of McRoberts
group.
(A) Let the proposition be definitely stated by [
257] to
McRoberts. Let MCROBERTS, with [
257], present proposition to
the cereal company.
(Q) McRoberts will be out of town Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday. Will his associates do?
(A) No.
(Q) What will be the result of the cable sent by Lande to
the official of the Sterling Products Co. in Europe?
(A) This SHOULD be, as is seen at present, favorable. As to
what changes it will make, there are minor conditions that
are influencing same at present - but these SHOULD be
favorable.
(Q) With the deal as now set, what agreement should [
257]
have with E. W. Grove as to the amount of his commission and
stock?
(A) This has been given. We wouldn't change it from that
given.
(Q) What agreement should [
257] have with the bankers or
purchasers as to the amount? and should they be in writing?
(A) This has also been given, that it should not be in
writing - but in a gentlemen's agreement.
(Q) Is there any advice [
257] should have at this time to
carry out these negotiations successfully?
(A) Work, and then work, and then work!
(Q) Should [
257] have any other help to assist him, other
than he has now?
(A) No. Use all of those associations in every direction
and get them to make a definite proposition.
(Q) Has the proposition been hurt by so many people knowing
about it?
(A) Not as yet.
(Q) What is Mr. Grove's attitude at the present time to
[
257]?
(A) Very good.
(Q) Will Mr. Hammett be necessary in the final meeting?
(A) May be in the FINAL - not in the next meeting.
(Q) Will Lauterstein be helpful in the next meeting?
(A) Should be.
(Q) Has [
257] conducted himself properly up to time being?
(A) Very good.
(Q) Will Mr. Wertheim be home in time for the final meeting?
(A) Representatives will be.
(Q) Will Mr. Klingenstein be able to pass the final word
tomorrow?
(A) He WILL! Getting him to do it may be different, but he
WILL be able.
(Q) Will the Forces advise what will cause Mr. Klingenstein
to give the final word?
(A) WORK!
