8/28/33, Mon. night, he wrote from Montreal [ltr. not rec'd
until after the rdg. for which he wired]: "Here I am with a
60 million dollar whiskey deal and it is wonderful - at least
the possibilities are. I talked about you from 6 p.m. until
1 a.m... I wish you would try to get a line for me to handle
this amalgamation and have for me in N.Y. Thurs. if possible.
"How shall deal or ass'n be handled by me to bring a close
relation between Samuel Ungerleider and Samuel Bronfman,
Vice-Pres. of Distillers Corp. Ltd., 1430 Peel St., Montreal,
Can.?
"On what basis should I suggest their best advantage for
ass'n?
"Should factory or distillery be owned jointly or by whom?
"What basis for capitalization?
"Where should I fit into the picture?
"What should I ask for a basis for my interest? What
arguments can I use to help the deal go through with Sam
Bronfman? With Allan Bronfman, the Treasurer? With Harry
Bronfman, the manufacturer?
"Will I come in contact with Mr. Ross of London who is
English head? Will anyone have to go to London from our
group to close a deal? What are the advantages and
possibilities of the ass'n of these two groups?
"Please advise me what to say to Sam Ungerleider as to my
future ass'n with him in this transaction, or others? Would
I be a valuable assistance to Ungerleider business? Would I
be successful in the type of work in Wall Street?"
8/29/33 A.M. He wired: "Advise me N.Y. Wed. for Thurs.
meeting details for completing plans Allan and Sam Bronfman,
Distillers Corp., 1430 Peel St., Montreal, and Sam
Ungerleider, N.Y. and what discussions necessary for me for
both sides to consummate. Add usual questions. Expect
several applications and visits to you from here."
