(Q) What was object Seely meeting with me at Vanderbilt
Hotel yesterday?
(A) The attempt to find the processes of activity and to, as
near as possible, create fear in the mind of [
257] as to what
might or would be accomplished if the activities are carried
on as they are to be carried on.
Also an opening for later, as has been indicated; that if
these are presented there will be the attempt to make for
settlements without carrying through.
The attempts also to gain as much as possible the approach
that will be made.
(Q) What effect will lawyer Steuer have on my case?
(A) Only the effect that [
257] or attorneys may have the
fear of Steuer. [Max Steuer]
(Q) Will [
900] case against me have any bearing at St. Louis
trial?
(A) Not unless it's allowed as evidence, which it should not
be.
Again we find the necessity of all points, all conversations,
all activities to be given - a thorough understanding of same
- to the trial attorneys in St. Louis, and especially Reed.
(Q) Will Seely threats to me be brought to bear at trial?
(A) If it can get away with them, so far as they will effect
or produce anxiety on [
257]'s part - just as far as he can
carry them!
(Q) What does he refer to when he told me they would
surprise me at St. Louis because of a situation between
Edwin Grove and myself?
(A) Not known by what is referred to, but the attempts to
produce in [
257]'s mind the idea that there are things they
do not know, there are things that are of a questioning
nature, see?
(Q) What relation did I have with Grove that might be
criticized?
(A) Only the attempts to seek information for same.
(Q) Will [
257] be called to testify on the stand at
St. Louis?
(A) This depends upon whatever is presented in the first
opening, and as the progress of the trial goes on - if it
goes that far. This will depend altogether upon attorneys.
(Q) Why does Seely have lawyer for trial?
(A) Only his egotism.
(Q) What unexpected moves does Seely plan that I should be
advised of for protection?
(A) All of these, as has just been indicated - these are all
as we find in the present.
(Q) Is Seely planning to offer a settlement before or during
trial?
(A) As has been indicated.
If this can be accomplished to the advantage of all, to be
sure it will be done.
(Q) What should I say to Seely in the next meeting as to my
stand on the case?
(A) The least said the better.
(Q) At the conference Wednesday with all lawyers, please
advise me what to suggest or advise so they will be fully
prepared?
(A) As has been given from the beginning, all be acquainted
with ALL FACTS concerning same, and especially the trial
attorneys.
(Q) Any other important instructions for me?
(A) These are the ones, as we find.
(Q) Should Lande have a physical reading, as he suggested,
to keep in health?
(A) This shall be determined by Lande.
(Q) Would it be advisable for Edgar Cayce to go with me to
St. Louis?
(A) It would be very bad, because this will be part of that
which will be suggested, or attempted to be suggested.
(Q) Any other advice at this time?
(A) Do these, as we find in the present.
We are through for the present.
