big city I know [when you told me to write], but my excuses
are of the best. The tooth is out! Glory hallelujah! It
was in such a position that if the dentist had pushed up as
usual, it would have forced out the tooth next to it...we
don't know yet just what the damage has been done to the
molar, but we hope for the best. The dentist thought right
up to the time of extraction that he would have to pull the
molar before he could get at the other tooth. But after he
made the incision, he saw that I didn't flinch, and by steady
pressure, he moved the jaw bone back and caught the tooth
as it slid down. If he hadn't, it would have gone into the
soft tissues of the throat. It was much worse on him that
it was on me. He was white as a sheet and tired out from
the strain of that steady pressure. My face was swollen
some, but it didn't keep me away from work but just one
afternoon and the next morning. The incision healed too
quickly, and he had to reopen it to let it drain. He and
I both (he...refers to the dentist, or rather exodontist,
Dr. McGinnis) were afraid it would open the antrum and then
I would have sinus trouble the rest of my days. But it
didn't, so, I'm chewing right along.

store, said good morning everybody and slipped up on the
freshly waxed tile and crumpled. That was a week ago, and
night before last I couldn't move. Somehow I managed to get
up and down town and went by a doctor's. He laughed plenty
at my limping as I was doing - said that was the first time
he had heard of someone bruising both knees as I had done
and complaining of a sore back, but examination showed a
bruised and pinched sciatic nerve, so he baked me a beautiful
shade of crimson and taped me from there to there. I feel
much better. My left leg is practically useless, but I
manage to get around on it without too much trouble."

and feel sort of lost since the adhesive is gone, but the
pain has all subsided. I still creak a bit, but that's
probably old age. I took several light treatments for the
nerve and Dr. Taylor seemed to think it was responding
nicely. If I have the slightest bit of trouble, I'm going
to have a thorough checkover by you, but just now I feel
like a glass of champagne - all full of bubbles."

creaking and easily tired feeling I don't like."
