TEXT

1. GC: You will have before you Group #1, members of which are present, and their work on the lesson "Destiny". As individuals and as a group we seek that approach which will be most in accord with our ideal of service in His name.
2. EC: Yes, we have the group as gathered here, and their work on the lesson Destiny. As a group and as individuals there has not been the choice as to how there would be the activities in the preparation of the lessons. This, as has been given, should first be determined, and an amicable expression and a meeting that would make for a clarifying of that purpose WITH those that would prepare same.
3. Rather, then, at this time would there be given ye as this:
4. As ye seek in the name of Him who came in due season, that ye through His name might have the access to the Father, then will ye not in His name strive to be the greater channels of blessings to those that look to thee in His name for guidance, for direction, for sustainment during those periods of anxiety, of doubt and of fear?
5. Then, quit [GD's note: Biblical expression as in 1 Sam. 4:9 and 1 Cor. 16:13, meaning acquit?] yourselves as the children of the Most High - and KNOW whereunto thou hast chosen that which would be thy direction in this matter.
6. Some among you are fearful; some are weak; some are doubting; some are seeking more and more. What will ye do with that thou hast chosen? Be strong in Him, for His promises are sure - and ye may walk with Him if ye will choose to be channels of blessings in His name.
7. Let thy yeas be yea and thy nays be nay in His name, for thou hast chosen the better part - He has chosen thee as thou hast chosen Him. Go ye, then, into the field that is ripe unto the harvest; for His ways are those that lead to eternal life.
8. Ready for questions.
9. (Q) Please explain so that we may all understand just -
   (A) (Interrupting) All understand much better than they will acknowledge in themselves! Quit [See also 12/06/75 HLC's as 262-56, Par. R3 in re Halaliel.] ye thyselves like ye believe that thou hast given to thy brother for the directions.
10. We are through for the present.
[GD's note: Two or three in the group were still not convinced that we were right in rejecting Halaliel's help in preparing the lessons.]

BACKGROUND

1. Subject of Reading 262-74 - "Norfolk Study Group #1."
2. See 262-73 urging that the Christ [not Halaliel] be the guide. Sense of haste pervaded room, due to holding the reading earlier so [295] could participate in a church Xmas program and not have to miss the reading. Some resented this change in usual procedure; two came late because they weren't notified of the change.
