This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 16th day of December, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [263], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [263], present in this room, the information which has been given through these channels in her [263-4] Life Reading on March 6, 1935, as to her appearances in the earth and how they effect the physical and mental body in the present. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [263], present in this room; together with the information respecting influences which arise in the mental and material body from urges in past sojourns.
3. These in part, and wholly in some, we have had before.
4. In analyzing the conditions-physical and mental that exist in the present, all of these - with the present material happenings and experiences - are to be considered as a whole, yet analyzed in such a way and manner that the suggestions for help or aid may be made practical in the experience.
5. Hence, first, in the physical forces of the body:
6. Let it be understood as to how each phase of consciousness or experience affects the other; that is, the associations or connections between the spiritual and the mental body, the spiritual and the physical body, and between the mental and the physical and mental and spiritual.
7. Thus, if these associations and connections are thoroughly understood, - as to the manners and the means then of controlling emotions, whether they be physical, mental or spiritual, may be better understood and applied in the experience of the entity.
8. As has been indicated through these channels respecting that which takes place at the moment of conception, as to ideals and purposes of those who through physical and mental emotions bring into being a channel through which there may be the expression of a soul-entity, - each soul choosing such a body at the time of its birth into material activity has its physical being controlled much by the environs of the individuals responsible for the physical entrance. Yet, the soul choosing such a body for a manifestation becomes responsible for that temple of the living God, when it has developed in body, in mind, so as to be controlled with intents, purposes and desires of the individual entity or soul.
9. So in this body, in this physical condition that exists here with this body, [263], we find it subject to those attributes of a physical being it has chosen for the mental and soul expression of self.
10. Then, there are centers, areas, conditions in which there evidently must be that contact between the physical, the mental and spiritual.
11. The spiritual contact is through the glandular forces of creative energies; not encased only within the [Leydig] lyden gland of reproduction, for this is ever - so long as life exists - in contact with the brain cells through which there is the constant reaction through the pineal.
12. Hence we find these become subject not only to the intent and purpose of the individual entity or soul upon entrance, but are constantly under the influences of ALL the centers of the mind AND the body through which the impulses pass in finding a means or manner of expression in the mental or brain self.
13. This is true also in regard to physical ills that have been a part of an individual experience; as this entity has had through the periods of development, the periods of satisfaction and gratification of the emotions of the body in all its phases of experience, as well as in the building through the mental self that which is the experience of the entity.
14. Thus we find the connection, the association of the spiritual being with the mental self, at those centers from which the reflexes react to all of the organs, all of the emotions, all of the activities of a physical body.
15. That this individual body in the mental, in the spiritual, in the present sojourn, has experienced illness, dis-ease rather than disease, has had and does in the present have an influence upon the abilities of the entity to choose or to facilitate itself in its environs. Not that there has been or is a lack of appreciation, or a lack of knowledge as to what may be done by physical activity or mental attitudes towards spiritual influences. But being PHYSICALLY submerged by the conditions and experiences which have over-shadowed the body-mind as well as the physical reflexes and activities to the mental forces as to the creative influences within the body, there remains that ability of the entity itself to keep that emotion - as it were - AFLAME with the desire to carry on. For, the mental and physical pressures that have been so strong upon the spiritual-mental attitude have the tendency to submerge.
16. Hence, as indicated at times, and as outlined for the body in the urges arising from the sojourns in other periods when there were the expressions of self-emotions, self-indulgence, followed by the periods of self-condemnation, - these conditions that exist in the present would or might be expected to arise. For, the tendencies are for the physical body to gradually conform to that which has been the experience of the entity in other activities, as to what it did ABOUT those periods of physical and mental activity with a disregard of the spiritual influences. These become latent urges, and gradually build such a body. For, that a body - this body - assimilates, it is able to be added to the physical being, the mental being, the spiritual being. It is dependent then upon those abilities within each entity to keep alive, to keep aware of, to keep aglow that which is the life impelling force or hope, against despair or willfulness, against contentment.
17. These are mental or deeper expressions of emotions, - until an individual entity has grasped hold of such as to make the awareness of same real.
18. How? All being of one accord, moved to this or that activity! Or better, - in the beginning was the word. The word was God. The word was with God. He MOVED!
19. Hence as He moved, souls - portions of Himself - came into being.
20. This entity - as a portion - may come to the awareness then of its relationship to that source, that glow or impulse of life. Separation or willfulness or neglect may bring just the opposite, - disappointment, fear, contention, strife, the inclination of discontent in ANY factor, in ANY influence.
21. These, then, are conditions that exist; mentally, spiritually, physically, with this body.
22. Now: As has been indicated, there is that existent influence; that He, the Father, has not willed that any soul should perish. He does not have joy in suffering, in death, in disappointment, in hate, in those things that make individual souls or entities afraid, but has with ALL the willfulness of an entity, a soul, prepared a way of escape. For, was not the physical being made from all else that grew? For, of the dust of the earth was the body-physical created. But the WORD, the MIND, is the controlling factor of its shape, its activity, from the source, the spiritual - the spiritual entity.
23. Thus there are within the abilities of each soul that ability to choose that as will keep the body, the mind, the portion of the spirit, attuned to holiness - or oneness with him.
24. The emotions of the body, as here, are as electronic energies. This again is a name, until the individual entity experiences that there is the heart beat and pulsation, there IS the respiratory activity of the lungs to purify the body-flow of life, blood, fluid, WITH a glow from the emotions controlled through the centers or lines of the nervous systems for both positive and negative natures.
25. There are those influences without the entity of those natures also. These have been indicated as necessary influences in the experience of this body, as an application, [263-12] through the use of the Violet Ray. This is a high voltage, stimulating all centers that are as the crossroads, the connections between the various portions of the physical-body functioning, the mental attitudes and attainments, as well as the sources of supply; which arose by the choice of the entity in entering this particular temple, this individual temple.
26. Now: As we find, the needs are NOT this high awakening so much. This at times, yes, is necessary. Use it only, then, about once each week. What do we mean by weeks? Of course, a dissertation might be given here as to days, and as to what each individual day means, as to the first in the beginning, and the second and the third, the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh. They each have their influence as to the attributes of the various formations of creating within the activity even of an individual entity.
27. But, once in seven days apply the high vibrations with the Violet Ray. Take same not just to be gotten through with, but begin in the central portion of the nervous system - or the 9th dorsal - work upward to the brain, or base of brain, the head. Then go down on either side of the spine, then down to the end of the spine, even to the sciatic along the lower limbs and to the soles of the feet. Then back, either side, to the central portion. Take at least two minutes, three minutes, to accomplish this. Let it be in contact with the body.
28. Then at other periods, if necessary twice a day, use the very LOW electrical forces of the body itself, as may be exercised by the use of that called the Radio-Active Appliance. This would not be slap-dab put together, but in order, in decency and in order, and used as an equalizer, a stimulator to the general forces of the body as it COORDINATES.
29. Then apply the WILL in those things indicated. Ye KNOW the way. Then if ye are tired, if ye are tempestuous, within yourself, rest and apply the Radio-Active Appliance for twenty minutes of morning, twenty minutes in the afternoon - if necessary.
30. And these periods should be used and kept as periods to seek the God within. If this is done, we will find we may MEET those conditions, those emotions within self that have disturbed and do at times disturb and do at times disturb this entity. [See 263-13, Par. R3.]
31. Ready for questions.
32. (Q) Describe how I may overcome in the present the mental and physical ATTITUDE as indicated from Saturn's influence. [263-4]
    (A) We have just been describing this the very best possible, and it is found within, by the mental, physical and spiritual activity to accomplish same!
33. (Q) Explain the desires and purposes arising from the material sojourn around Sumpter and Charleston, S.C., and how I may apply self in the present. [See 263-4 & subsequently 263-15. See also 263-13, Par. R2.]
    (A) These have been explained here, in how they pass through the emotions of the body by the allowing of self to again become self-centered, as to cause the disturbances to the physical, the mental AND the spiritual body.
34. (Q) Why does one do good for self or God?
    (A) That it may know itself to be itself. Sin, evil, hate, destroys - as the entity experiences that discontent brings confusion to anything. Then, good accumulates; good grows. GOD is good.
35. (Q) What IS good?
    (A) GOD is good.
36. (Q) Is it my mind or my physical body that is mostly affected?
    (A) Read what has been given! It's both, if ye allow it to be! It's confusion! There are the physical disturbances, to be sure, but the reactions are both mental and material.
37. (Q) What causes my loss of weight?
    (A) Worry!
38. (Q) Do my teeth and gums need any treatment?
    (A) Not especially, if those vibrations are used as indicated that will set up the two types of electrical forces for the entity, which will revive the activities of the centers throughout the bodily forces themselves.
39. (Q) Please give me my seal, the colors and interpretation.
    (A) Let's use that you have and CHANGE these to those that are needed in the experience, as yet. These may be made into that which is the life's work. Let's begin it. Let's apply it. Let's use that we have in hand first. [12/07/41 She obtained her Aura Chart Rdg. 263-17.]

3. 3/19/51 She reported: "I used the violet ray for a time and it helped me, but at the time I was in such a mental and emotional state that I think it took away the help I did get from it. It did help quiet my nerves, though. I used it for about six months.
   "When I first started using the Radio-Active Appliance, which I used off and on for about two years, it helped me to go to sleep naturally. Then I started using the B.C. headache powders again, so I had to discontinue using the appliance. The reaction to the appliance was marked, the first night I used it."
