This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of May, 1931, in accordance with request made by self, her husband, and by Dr. E. P. Brenner.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [264] - this we have had before. Now, we find there have been some retractions that have not been well for the physical conditions in the body. This, as we find, has produced some uneasiness, some changes in the general condition, some debilitation in the ability of the blood supply to furnish, as it were, the full amount of the oxygens for the system. This in turn has at periods affected the heart's action. This, as WE find, has purely been of a reflex nature, yet the CONDITIONS as PRODUCED by same in the MENTAL body have had their reflection ALSO in the physical CONDITIONS. While we do not find the growth or the PRESSURES DIFFERENT, or even a set-back in general improvements, this HAS produced some pressures that have apparently made different CONDITIONS in the body; this especially in the locomotion, in the nausea created, in the heaviness and uneasiness that has been felt about the pelvic organs, and the tendency to be in more acute pain at times. THIS has produced the uneasiness that is felt by the body.
2. In the general conditions, we find there are STILL the ABILITIES in the system, in the physical forces of the body, to produce quick RECUPERATIVE forces; for the weight, the digestive forces, the activities of the blood supply are STILL being aided by those treatments that have been administered, that are BEING administered, both for the adjustments and for the applications externally.
3. The only change, then, as we would make would be as of this: We would add that of a massage with this, in THIS proportion, though half the QUANTITY - or a fourth of the quantity - may be made, and only that NECESSARY used at a time as a treatment:
4. To 1 gallon of plain (not colored, not altered) gasoline, add:

   Oil of Mustard...............1 ounce,
Oil of Cedar.................1 ounce.

5. Stir well together, or shake together when used, and massage across the LOCOMOTARY centers in the LUMBAR and sacral region. This will reduce that pressure, and make for a penetrative force that will release or relieve pains and pressure. DO NOT massage this over the abdomen or groin. Over THIS portion we would use equal parts of pure olive oil, Russian white oil, and RUB alcohol - equal parts of each, see? say an ounce of each. These we would massage OVER the abdomen (lower portion), and over the groin. These would NOT be given on the same days, see? If one is given; that is, over the sacral, over the lumbar, over the locomotary centers - these on Tuesday; then on Thursday we would give that over the abdomen. Ready for questions.
6. (Q) Is the treatment being given correctly, that is being applied to this body, and is this body on the improve?
   (A) This, as given - treatments, the manipulations, the adjustments, are being properly given, as are the internal treatments, the rays, and the applications. These, as we have given, are to be added for the IMMEDIATE conditions; and the body IS - as seen generally - on the improve. These retractions come from outside forces, and the natural reflection is upon the physical body, under the strain.
   The diets, the building up of the food forces these should be kept. These have been very well.
   As for the mental attitudes, under the stress and strain these have become rather IMAGINATIVE by the body tending to be expanded in a way, and naturally they become as troublesome conditions at times for the sleep and for the rest. Hold to that as has been given, for - as will be seen - that which will give the MENTAL body its IMPULSE finds its reaction in the physical forces of the body. Then, as the body knows, that as is to be held before the body as the mental image, is to be seen - the eliminations being carried on properly, the throwing off of those congested forces and eliminations being nominal; these on the improve, these being made well, will make for bettered conditions in the body, [264].
7. (Q) What is the pain due to, in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th left intercostal space at the mammary and infra-mammary region?
   (A) This produced by REFLEXES on a GENERAL NERVOUS reaction, or a general nerve reaction. Not organic, not even functional - other than that of nerve, and INTERCOSTAL nerves most then, or nerve ends. This is as a portion of that which is produced by sobbing, crying, over active forces in hiccoughs, or such, see?
8. (Q) What is the condition of the blood in this body?
   (A) As indicated, there has been some slipping, as it were, of the abilities of the red blood supply to keep its normal count, as has been indicated by heart's action, as is indicated by general conditions. These should be easily built back, will the activities and relief of pain that causes disorders make in system the bettered conditions.
9. (Q) What is the condition of the heart in this body?
   (A) There has been recently some enlarging, as would say - but a NORMAL force may be soon restored, with the general conditions brought nearer to an active force.
10. (Q) The digestion in this body has not been good. There's been a lot of gas in the past week.
    (A) This, as has been seen - and as has been given - is a result of the over-activity of that which may be called the psychic or the imaginative, or the forces in system that prevent the proper assimilation. At times when these occur, we would after the meal give one to two tablets of charcoal. This will reduce this.
11. (Q) The left side of head and left eye of this body has been giving trouble in the past week.
    (A) This comes from the lower lumbar regions.
12. (Q) What is the dizziness due to?
    (A) The unbalanced condition from the pressures in the GASTRIC regions of the system.
13. (Q) Is there any vertebra in the lumbar region that can be adjusted for the trouble in head and eye?
    (A) 6th and 7th.
14. (Q) 6th and 7th dorsals?
    (A) 6th and 7th dorsals. See, this is just above the plexus from the super-gastric, or the hypogastric center as branches from that of the solar plexus which comes to the frontal portion of system - see?
15. (Q) What is the position of the 6th cervical vertebra, and what would be the better way to move this 6th cervical vertebra?
    (A) Placing the hands locked behind the head, see, and catching the body from around - that is, from the over side and under side bring them TO the body, see - standing to the right side of body, see - pressing down.
16. (Q) Any other advice and counsel that will be of help to this body at this time?
    (A) Make these physical applications; also those mental attitudes. Keep the heart singing. We are through.

REPORTS

1. 5/25/31 Dr. Edw. P. Brenner's letter:
   "Enclosed find check for $10 for Mrs. [264]'s rdg. Mr. [853] gave it to me to give you but for some unknown reason I did not do it, maybe because my mind wasn't at Va. Beach, only my body. Really, after getting that rdg. for Mrs. [264] I felt that I ought to get back and apply the new two treatments at once, for I am so sure that whatever the readings tell one to do it is right. For the past week I tried to do everything I knew to do for her, and thanks to the good Lord I didn't make any mistakes, for the reading said the treatments I had given were alright. I know when the reading says alright, they are right.
   "I applied the gasoline, oil of mustard and oil of cedar this morning and there was a relaxation in the lumbar and sacral region that surely surprised me, and I am sure it would have surprised anyone. Thanks to the Lord is my prayer for sending such helpful messages through you. I assure you that I will carry out whatever the readings tell us to do, for they know."

3. 7/31/31 EC's ltr. to former Cayce Hospital patient, Mr. [2]: "You remember that Mrs. [264] was told she could never be well without an operation. She was here Sunday and is almost a new woman entirely - though she has gone through a great deal, she certainly has been constantly on the improve."
