1/17/33 Niece [
569]'s letter: "We do believe Aunt [
265]
would have passed on if [
1005] hadn't written you for a rdg.
You are wonderful! Just wish you could have seen how she
rallied after taking the treatment you recommended. She made
a terrible to-do over the cough medicine and wanted the whole
family to help her take it; said it sure tasted awful, said
you could fix up the most outlandish concoctions she ever
tasted. I said Yes, but they sure do the work. We were so
worried - she coughed so hard day and night, thought she
would have a hemorrhage from her throat or lungs. She would
choke until she would lose her breath, and we would have to
prop her up in bed if she had any rest at all. Mama [
1795]
and [
760] stayed in the room with her and they were both
working all night long with her, trying to give her relief.
We were all awake but of course there wasn't anything we
could do. We tried our best to get her to let us have a
doctor but she simply would not hear to it. She is very
weak, however there is no keeping her in bed and there are
certain things she will do regardless of how much we would be
glad to do those things for her. [
760] almost works herself
into a fit to get ahead of her to keep her from moving or
exerting herself, and we fix everything we can think of to
tempt her appetite. She seems a great deal better tonight.
I notice her voice is stronger."

much worse. She is much weaker than she has ever been. The
powder she was taking has checked her kidneys, which Mama
[

afraid of uremic poisoning... [
760] said to give another
rdg. at once. We know she is weaker as she has been sleeping
so much today and she is extremely nervous. She told Mama
she was worse because her heart was weaker. She looks awful,
has fallen off a great deal since we wrote you for the rdg."
1/21/33 EC gave her a Ck. Physical Rdg.

1/25/33 Nephew [
419]'s letter: "Aunt [
265] is just about the
same as she was. Doesn't seem to be able to gain any
strength, but that cough medicine sure knocked the dofixing
out of that cough. She made some awful faces over it, said
it tasted like several different kinds of tobacco juice
combined, but it did the work.
"She also is rather contrary about what she eats, but we are
doing all we can to give her the right things and carry out
the readings."
