5/03/33 EC's letter to [
271]'s mother:
Dear Mrs. [...]:
"I have yours of the 27th. The reports gotten Monday has
already been sent to you. I hope this was most satisfactory
and encouraging.
"It wasn't my intention to give the impression, Mrs. [...],
that I didn't think you had confidence. What we are desirous
of having is the COOPERATIVE confidence. You may rest
assured that as long as [
271] is here I will do everything in
my power to be of a real service to him. And, if the
occasion arises where I feel it is for his best interests
that we get a reading or information, you may rest assured
that we will do it; provided this is agreeable with you.
That is what I meant by cooperative confidence. I think, as
I told you sometime ago, the most successful and wonderful
results we have ever obtained, in cases that have been hard
to analyze by the regular profession, have been where we have
followed consistently with the readings - that is, even at
periods when we didn't know whether it was necessary or not,
but to check up on what was being accomplished by the
applications being made. In this case, as you can very well
see from the last report, it is MOST necessary that there be
the proper care and attention given him by those who have him
in charge.
"I believe that he is getting along very wonderfully at the
present time. I really believe there are definite signs of
improvement.
"Thanking you for your letter, and with all good wishes,
I am" Sincerely...
5/03/33 EC's letter to Mrs. [
2457]: "...I think I told you
sometime ago about Sister, Sarah and Lu, having a young man
with them who has - according to the doctors' diagnosis -
dementia praecox. I think he is really showing signs of
improvement.
