1/25/74 Letter from Verona Floyd, Eugene, Oregon:
"...Some time ago my gums were inflamed, all red, sore and
raw as if all the skin was off them. I went to a dentist.
He said I had pyorrhea. He treated my gums but I got no
relief. I have a very limited income (Social Security). I
can hardly live from month to month. I am alone except for
my 91 year old mother I have to take care of. So due to my
financial circumstances I quit going to the dentist. My gums
kept getting worse, finally I went to another dentist. He
asked if I was taking hormone pills. I was taking Premarin
Brand of conjugated estrogens. He said this would cause my
gums to get puffed up, raw and sore. I quit taking the pills
for a while but my 'hot spells' got so bad again I would feel
at times I just simply could not stand them. I'd burn all
over as if I was roasting in a hot oven. My gums - I could
still see no change in them. Due to these terrible hot
spells, I went back to taking Premarin (I am 58th the 30th of
this month).
"Finally I got some Ipsab from the Heritage in Virginia
Beach. After using for one week my gums cleared up some and
the swelling went down. Another week of use, they were no
longer sore or red and at this time they are in good shape,
and I only used the Ipsab about 3 weeks altogether. I no
longer use it or need to, thanks to the Circulating File on
Pyorrhea..."
