3/23/33 Mother's ltr.: "I was glad there was no serious
complication and by right diet and exercise could be made
right, but it seemed to me to be so indirect in a way, did
not specify just what she should eat or what exercise or
change should be made. The reason I had the reading, she had
a sick spell about 2 wks. before I wrote you. She complained
of pain in the right side, had some fever (102), head and
back and limbs aching. I thought she had the flu. We called
the Dr. He thought she had appendicitis and they took her
to the hospital. Just as they were ready to operate she
developed so much cold Dr. could not operate, for which I was
very thankful, for I did not think an operation was necessary
(however, I am not a doctor - ha! ha!). Well, they kept her
in the hospital a week, let her come home, telling her as
soon as she got over the cold she had better come back and
have the operation before she had another spell. When she
got home I had Miss Grapes come give her some tr. She found
her nerves in bad shape and she thought her gallbladder more
than the appendix affected, so to be sure an operation was
or was not necessary I wrote you. I did not want to tell
you anything about her condition, was so sure you would get
the necessary information without questions, to prove to her
husband she did not need the operation. He thought she did
and should go on and have it done. That is why I say in a
way it was a disappointment, it did not give as specific
information as I should have liked, but feel from the rdg.
an operation is not necessary or it would have said so. She
is much better, is still taking tr. from Miss Grapes, but she
doesn't look at all like her old self and I am worried."
4/13/33 "Miss Grapes says the last rdg. [286-6] is exactly
as she had diagnosed the case and if you read her again to
ask these questions..."
