This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at this home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of September, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [286], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [286]; this we have had before.
3. As we find, there are a great many changes in the general physical forces of the body. Some are very good. Some show those signs of specific disturbances, especially as indicated in the caecum AND the ovary area.
4. These are rather of a sympathetic nature, from a strain - as well as the conditions under which the strain occurred, you see; that is, the periods, or the eliminations and the pressures, have brought about disturbances in both the appendicial or caecum area AND the right ovary.
5. We would give first that there be some adjustments made, especially in the lower dorsal and through the lumbar and sacral area.
6. Of evening, just before retiring, use an equal combination of Mutton Tallow (melted), Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor, for massaging - all that the body will absorb - into the area of the groin, across the caecum, as well as across the small area of the back. This would be done just before retiring, you see. Then apply a heavy flannel over the whole area that has been massaged; with an electric pad used alternately first to the front and then to the back. This should be kept on either area for about twenty to thirty minutes each, you see.
7. If the adjustments or corrections, AND these local applications, do not remove the inflammatory conditions, we would consult a surgeon.
8. These as we find, however, SHOULD remove the disturbance.
9. Be mindful that there is not allowed to be a day without proper eliminations. Do not overtake cathartics or laxatives. Use rather small doses of Olive Oil often - that is, about a quarter to half a teaspoonful taken several times during a day.
10. Do these, as we find best for the conditions. This should remove this tiredness, this aching, and the headaches and the nausea that occurs at times, also the pain through those areas.
11. Ready for questions.
12. (Q) What causes pains in lower rectum?
    (A) This is the same strain, you see.
13. (Q) Has this also caused the upset of the bowels?
    (A) As just indicated. Do these things and we SHOULD bring the better conditions. Should temperature occur, or a great deal of nausea, have the operative measures at once.

   "What causes the pains in my right side and lower rectum?
   What causes my back and lower right limb to hurt just at times?
   Are my appendix affected enough for an operation or will treatment causing pain be sufficient, if not my appendix? Could it be my right ovary?
   What has caused my bowels to be so upset recently?
   Would chlorine in our city water cause any of this trouble?
   Mr. Cayce, I don't know whether I have expressed myself very well or not but I have been suffering so at times with my side and I lifted or try to lift 25# of potatoes out of the back end of my car and my side started after that altho it has bothered me off and on for years but nothing like it has lately. I will appreciate this reading and will send you the money after I receive it."

   Dear Mr. Cayce:
   "I certainly did appreciate you sending me the reading so promptly and I know I should have written you long before now. If you will notice the date on this money order I am sending, you will see I got it several days ago expecting to send it right on. We have been busy here at the office and its just been neglect on my part.
   I feel much better now. I was taking treatments from Miss Grapes when Mama wrote you and I couldn't just stop right off as she had been so good to me so I have not been to the other doctor yet. I did do the other part of it tho and I really have felt normal again."
