2/16/33 EC's letter to Mrs. [
959] who had asked him if he had
given rdgs. for lung trouble for people working in mines:
"Yes, we have had cases of lung trouble that have been
produced from almost all sorts of causes. One of our
Regional Representatives had a very serious trouble, produced
several yrs. ago while working in a tunnel. He drank water
from pipes and got lead (white lead) poisoning. The combined
condition has been quite a hard one to cope with, but as he
says - all the others that were with him are dead, and he has
had nearly eight years of comparative ease; not a great deal
of trouble except right at first, and a few times he has had
setbacks from some unusual activity."
