Edgar Cayce Readings, 287-11

(Physical Suggestion)

EC: Yes, we have the body, [287]; this we have had before.
Now, as we find, conditions that have existed are at times so irritated as to produce distresses to the body in their activity. Had there been sufficient or as deep manipulations and corrections as there should have been, these disturbing effects would not have occurred.
There should be given (and taken) those corrections that are necessary to reduce the tendency in the upper dorsal and cervical area, to reduce that tendency for the nerve forces to dilate the phrenic nerves (pertaining to the diaphragm's circulation, and the activity of the brachial plexus) and the dilation that is produced in the trachea and the bronchi, and the irritation to the lung; in these portions of the esophagus, especially, where it enters into the stomach at the cardiac end.
With exercises that make the nerves through these various portions given become overactive, this portion swells - or holds the blood supply.
It has not become of such a nature as yet to REMAIN in this state, save when the activities physically produce the rush of blood - or cause the blood to rush there; weakened places, as indicated before.
Then, to meet the conditions in the present, we would keep those properties that have been given to reduce the chemical reactions in the gastric forces of the stomach and duodenum, produced by the irritation of those acids that cause the smoothing out of many of the walls and the destruction of tissue in same; sometimes back, as we have given. [Olive Oil & Saffron?]
We would so stimulate osteopathically, or chiropractically (if the massage will be given WITH same!), those centers, as to reduce this tendency for the gathering of impulse to this portion of the system. It is necessary, then, that the stimulation to OTHER portions take AWAY the blood, until there is a general distribution. So, the massage would be in the 3rd and 4th dorsal, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th cervical, with adjustments when necessary (which will be found to be once in a while), with specific adjustments made in the 9th, 10th, 12th dorsal, 3rd and 4th lumbar. These treatments will stimulate for the carrying of impulses in general distribution, so that there may be resuscitation.
Conditions are such, necessarily, that it will require time. Do not become impatient, or over-anxious, but know that the results will come if these suggestions will be carried out; for these conditions are not only psychopathic in their nature but they also carry with same the others that make for the actuality of that ordinarily termed of the nature to produce definite REACTIONS in the system of a beneficial nature, and are in line with the proper reactions from both activities of beneficial effects that are received to a body from correcting of centers in cerebro-spinal system to change impulses in the system. See? They are, consequently, of therapeutic value in an organism.
The amounts of oil or of the saffron should be that which will be assimilated by the body.
For those tendencies of the gathering of influences in system, and of the pneumtic or rheumatic condition, it would be well that the large quantities of the electro-magnetic or violet ray be applied to the superficial portions of the body, or that there be the charging of the body throughout with same, so as to reduce the salts and allow the eliminations to be carried from the system.
Be mindful of the diet, that there is not too much starch or too much fats; but much of the stewed fruits, nuts, and all those things that stimulate the alimentary canal to activity in the over-secretions without irritation to the muco-membranes of same.

(Q) What causes pain in throat?
(A) It's just been described! The conditions in the thorax, in the epiglottis and trachea, and in the cardiac end of stomach proper; nervous reaction, filling of blood, shortness of breath, and creating the pressures to the diaphragm area - see?
(Q) What is the condition of my heart?
(A) Naturally, with irritations to the activity of the cardiac, or secondary cardiac, the pressures created there produce quickness of pulsation; hence the character and type of manipulation suggested. NOT ORGANIC; SYMPATHETIC!
(Q) At times why am I unable to walk any distance, or to be active?
(A) It's just been described as to what produces those pressures!
Do as we have outlined, CONSISTENTLY; not a few times and stop, but consistently - will we [if we will] restore anything like normalcy for the body!

11/21/32 "I am not well. Still have my old trouble. [After effects of white lead poisoning (lead colic) many yrs. ago.] The good effect of the Olive Oil seems to be wearing out on me. Am taking two sweats a week now and am some better. Feel good when I am quiet, but can't walk without severe pain in my throat, but as soon as I stop walking I get better. Just feel fine when I am quiet."
11/30/32 "Is the pain in the throat when I walk, about 4-5 inches below my chin, caused by the burn [from white lead poison] 8 yrs. ago? [See 287-1, 2, etc.] My heart seems to be o.k. except when I move fast, or walk more than a block - then I must stop, but not always. Sometimes I can work or walk o.k. Had bad case of rheumatism. Violet ray [hand machine, bulb applicator] cured my back and hip in about 10 days, but my left leg hurts yet and I have been using violet ray for about 30 days."

REPORTS

1/18/33 He wrote: "Edgar, I have been very bad for last two weeks but better now. Last Sat. a week ago [1/07/33] I was in daughter [1866]'s auto. She was bringing me home. She thought I would die. Could not get out of auto for one-half hour after I reached home. Suffered terrible pain in my chest and almost lost my breath - choked and choked. Had two bad spells today but nothing like the one mentioned above. I am taking the tr. every other day and can walk now about 400 ft. without pain or loss of breath. If I am quiet I have no trouble, but walking upstairs hurts me sometimes, not always but did today. But I will come through all right - you said I would and I will."
1/19/33 "Another treatment by Dr. Taylor [D.C.] [Alfred A. Taylor (?)] and I am now able to walk but slowly. Will write you as I improve. Dr. Taylor wants to handle all cases of yours that he can.
"I am not so shaky as I was yesterday. Very nervous for last 4 wks. Much better today." Love, [287]
1/21/33 "Took another tr. yesterday and improving fast. Still hurts me to walk - not bad. Dr. Taylor has at times patients that he can't relieve. He himself is not well - had an accident about two years ago that hurt his back. He wants to know what you would charge him for a rdg. I believe he can with my help get you a lot of cases. He sees what your work is doing for me."
1/26/33 "Walked one mile this a.m. without hurting me. Week before last and last week tr. by Dr. Taylor every other day. Surely is bringing me out. Another tr. today and next Sat., two per week from now on, and will keep up tr. until you say I am well."
2/13/33 "I have been very bad for last 10 days, better today. Haven't been able to get out of house until yesterday when I was some better - and much better today. I am sure I will get well when you say so. I am taking 4-5 tablespoons of Olive Oil every day and Saffron Tea about the same. Missed treatment of Dr. Taylor last week - not able to go down. Will get tr. today. I hurt so bad in my chest but much better again. Guess I overdid myself two weeks ago. Will be careful now."
2/21/33 "I am gaining a little. Came down to the city this a.m. I just can't understand my condition. Last evening at 10:30 I walked 420 ft. out from my home - was 1/2 hr. before I could get back. My wife came after me. She saw me wave the light I had with me. I thought I would choke to death, but the pain finally eased up and I got home by walking 20 ft. at a time and resting. Some days I can walk 4 blocks and not hurt, but I do believe I am gaining. "I have tried to have a number of people write you, but when they hear $20 membership that ends it. Seems as if everybody can't spend $20, and yet some of them say they have paid thousands and no relief."
2/28/33 "Glad to advise I am much better and will soon be myself again.
"Am taking 7-8 tablespoons of Olive Oil. Can walk now but hurts a little."
3/01/33 EC gave him Ck. Physical 287-12, indicating cholecystitis.
