11/16/55 His sister-in-law, Mrs. [
845], who was present at
his Life Rdg., stated that she had known [
289] for 20 yrs.,
very well.
"The remark in his Life Rdg. about him disliking Jews is
absolutely true! He and my sister, [
413], at one time had a
laundry. Whenever a Jewish person came in, [
413] had to wait
on him, for [
289] was sure to treat him badly. There was one
Jewish fellow who used to come in, who was not orthodox, and
most especially did [
289] find fault with him. This was one
of [
289]'s most outstanding characteristics.
"By contrast, he was especially kind and attached to Negroes.
There was one Negro who worked for [
289] who only knew how to
dig a straight ditch, but [
289] would come in nights quoting
him. This is interesting in view of the fact that [
289] was
also given an incarnation in Egypt at the time of Ra-Ta,
where he undoubtedly had to deal with the Nubians.
"His reluctance this time to affiliate with groups of any
kind was generally very marked. For example, he would not
really ever enter into the A.R.E. activities, though his wife
[
413] was most active.
"However, my sister [
413] has now gotten him to join the
Presbyterian church (after having been a member of the
Baptist church quite some distance away from their present
home), since it made them more active in community work, and
more a part of the community in which they live."
