This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 W. 35th St., Va. Beach, Va., this 28th day of October, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - Edgar Cayce.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Miss [369] and Mr. L. B. Cayce.

Time and Place: 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Va.

TEXT

  1. GC: You will have before you the experience of Edgar Cayce while in the psychic state this morning [although referred to as the morning rdg., EC was late getting to it and it actually took place at 12:20 P.M.], 10/28/27, in which he had conversation with his mother [deceased]. As he doesn't consciously remember this, you will now explain this to him, giving what the conversation was, what was meant, and anything that would clarify the condition for him. [See 294-102.]
  2. EC: Yes, we have the experience as had by the unconscious or soul-body of Edgar Cayce, or that entity at present known as Edgar Cayce, in conversation with that entity known as the mother.
  3. The conversation was regarding conditions existent in the material plane respecting health, welfare of individuals, the actions of individuals respecting other individuals in that same plane; giving those feelings as respecting actions of one toward another; also the welfare, conditions respecting health and well-being physically of the individual, and the manner in which such might be assisted.
  4. Here we find that commonly called or known as spirit communication, or that wherein an entity of the cosmic or ethereal plane is communicating with individuals in the material plane. Yet we see demonstrated, by the lack of consciousness materially of the body communicated with, that the body was not in the material plane although the material body was the channel through which such communication was made manifest before the eyes [and ears] of others, or within the hearing, rather, of others.
  5. The sensuousness of the material, then, was cognizant of such conditions, yet that sensuousness necessary for the body-physical to be conscious of same was not apparent.
  6. Hence we find many various phases of these conditions are presented to minds for study of such. And through such experiences much may be gained by those properly minded and seeking for counsel and understanding.
  7. Approach same not in the manner of proof, for this may not be given. Study rather to gain that concept which will make self conscious of thy existence being of the material body and the spiritual body. For God IS Spirit and seeks such to worship him. [John 4:23, 24]
  8. Worshipfulness, then, is seen in information given respecting individuals in the material plane, from individuals in the cosmic or etheric plane. Questions then arise as to how much consciousness exists in the etheric plane. Of what is a body, a soul, a spirit, conscious? Here we find how much is existent in an individual condition. As to the extent, study to know that seen. Then more may be given. Is the spirit, or that soul-entity, conscious of conditions through any sensuousness known in the material plane? Answer: Yes, in the sense that intuitive forces not known as having connection with sensuous feeling are rather known without consciousness of how they are known. All are raised to the NTH degree, or power, or the dimensions are changed in the vision of same.
  9. Those conditions which impel from the material are not of the etheric body. Those impelling from the cosmic or etheric consciousness are not impelling forces in the material plane, but rather the UNISON of forces that vibrate in that position wherein such communication is established in a way and manner that, THROUGH that sensuousness which IS in the material plane, one becomes cognizant of conditions existent in the material and ethereal plane, or the UNISON of either or both.
  10. Then, in the application of that given, be not FEARFUL of such, but abuse not such. Rather use than abuse all of the impelling forces of which one in the material plane may become conscious. Rather lose self in that which makes self one with the ethereal forces that are of the soul building nature.
  11. For the ENTITY - in the ethereal or cosmic - is the soul of the material body. For there is the material body, the ethereal body, the mental body, the spiritual body; and the COMBINED force is seen in the sensuous manner. In a sensuous manner these all may be PRESENT in the material body. These ABSENT from the material body may be present with an ethereal body. Or an ethereal body may be present with the soul-body if the material forces are subjugated to the laws of ethereal force.
  12. We are through for the present.

BACKGROUND

  1. 10/28/27 At 12:20 P.M., immediately following dream rdg. 538-25, after the suggestion for closing - with the exception of "Now perfectly normal and perfectly balanced you will wake up" - EC started speaking [see recorded under 294-102] as if he were answering a telephone conversation with his mother, deceased.
