3/20/33 Husband [
2056]'s ltr.: "You will be pleased to know
that the prescription has apparently helped Mrs. [
298].
Immediately after talking with Miss Davis on the phone I went
home and prepared the liniment. Showed it to the doctor who
has been treating Mrs. [
298] and he thought it might help;
certainly couldn't hurt her in any way. We have been using
it every night since. It surely is powerful stuff (I mean
for the fellow who does the massaging and has to smell it).
"Mrs. [
298] seems to be getting on nicely. Her pulse is not
quite so strong, but then that is to be expected, seeing what
she has gone through. It has been very strong right along.
We find she can still use her right leg as much as she could
before the last attack, although the nurse doesn't let her,
until she has regained some of her strength.
"Mrs. [
298] becomes very blue at times and impatient at the
slowness of her recovery. Seems to have the feeling that she
won't get well. Of course we try to cheer her out of it, but
not with any great success. At other times she is very
cheerful. The leg at present is causing her a great deal of
pain, caused by the contracting of the muscles. (Similar to
a muscle cramp, I suppose.) Heat and massaging bring relief
after a time, but the pain is quite severe. (We massage the
arm and leg, as well as the body, with the prescription given
in the rdg.)
"It has been a long, hard pull, since the first of December,
and all indications are that it will be a still longer pull
before Mrs. [
298] is well again... I'm very grateful to you
for your help."
3/25/33 Husband obtained
298-2 for her, answering questions.
