7/05/43 "Since I last wrote to you I underwent some very
intensive training of such nature that I was going completely
out of my head, and as a desperate move, after trying to get
into photo service as was suggested from previous rdg.
through proper channels, meeting with little success, I
decided to contact my previous employer. So, through various
processes I finally found myself being transferred here
[D.C.].
"Well, after arriving here I was very contented. Environment
and conditions were ever so much better, so I was placed as
contact printer in the still Laboratory of the Signal Service
Photo Battalion Co. 'B' #846. I have worked hard and turned
out my very best effort into the finished photo, making
suggestions here and there, and have made many friends.
Consequently, I feel I could do much more, for now as I look
around I see many things that could be changed, and at the
same time I seek a way to advance myself. Perhaps I am still
not into the right branch of service, for here I am told that
ratings and means for advancement are very slim if any at
all. Therefore, I find myself again at the crossroads, ill
at ease, mentally and in body, as has been oft before, and
guided through you thereon again and again.
"I would like to pursue the right channel again and, more
than that, once on the right path I want to forge ahead.
There is much I feel I have to give out. I do so fervently
want to get ahead and in so doing be in harmony with God and
my fellow brethren, for through Him comes the inspiration
and desire to live a truly useful life.
"So, I again ask guidance through you." ["P.S. Was home for
10 days and somehow was anxious to get back here again.
Strange."]
"It gives me great pleasure to learn that you are a
grand daddy and that your boys are doing such a grand job in
the armed services. You have been so swell through it all to
all of us, just like a dad to me, too. God bless you."

2/21/46 Post Card to EC: "I am back from the service. Trust
Hugh Lynn is back. Most fond regards. Sincerely, [

3/16/46 HLC's ltr.: "Greetings and welcome back. The
enclosed [form] letter will explain many changes that have
taken place. I do not know how up to date you are on events
so will have to await your questions. We have a job ahead
of us in making intelligent use of the records which Dad
left. As always your interest and help will be welcome."
4/07/63 He sent in his renewal Sponsoring Membership, saying:
"After a long absence would like all possible data and wish
to be reinstated in the Association."
12/05/68 GD's note: Mr. [
315] is still a Sponsoring Member
of A.R.E.
6/06/67 GD's note: I talked to Mr. [
315] on the phone today.
He is still active as a photographer; he never married, took
care of his mother and younger brothers and sisters after his
father died. Says he is interested in A.R.E., A.R.E. Clinic,
etc., and sent a donation to CORE. He said he and Edgar
Cayce were buddies and had much to talk about together, both
being photographers; and his readings had meant much to him.
