(Q) Should the colonic irrigations be continued?
(A) When necessary. These may be too severe upon the
system. Just consider the information that has been given.
There are the tendencies for a catarrhal effect. Now, a
catarrhal condition is an activity in the mucous membranes
and lymph and emunctory circulation through all soft tissue
or portions of the body.
Colonics at such times, in a colon where such conditions
exist that there is poor activity, and poisons in the system,
may be good.
But as we find, if there is first given these things that
will make for an activity from the spleen, the pancreas, the
liver, the activity of the gall duct - through the activity
of such properties as indicated (the Eno Salts), then the
colonic irrigations are more effective. Not only do they
cleanse the system but they make for then a purifying.
However, when these are taken, it is better to take them
yourself than to have someone give them. Use body-
temperature water, not cold, not hot, and prepared with salt
and soda; the proportions of a level teaspoonful of table
salt and half a teaspoonful of baking soda to each quart
of water.
We are through for the present.

BACKGROUND
See
319-1 on
4/22/33 for arthritis.
11/07/35 Life Rdg.
319-2, Par. 36-A advised osteopathic
finger surgery for beginning catarrhal deafness in right
ear.
5/04/37 "Will you please give me a complete Physical Rdg.
with particular attention to my ears and head? I have
been ill and am under the care of a chiropractic doctor,
Dr. S. P. Smith. Have been taking adjustments, colonic
irrigations, and am on a strict diet. I have been getting
deaf and am very much perturbed over the condition of my
ears. Please give advice."
REPORTS
5/24/37 "I rec'd the rdg. requested recently, promptly,
and thank you very much for same. I would have acknowledged
it sooner but wanted to consult Dr. Woodall before writing.
"My sister [
410] and I went to Birmingham last Tuesday.
Since coming back, however, I have been sick, but am feeling
all right today.
"Dr. Woodall says he will have to give me about four
treatments before he will be able to tell whether he can help
the condition of my ears, and whether it will be worth while
to continue the treatments.
"My general condition is better. Your reading and
recommendations are practically in line with Dr. S. P.
Smith's diagnosis and treatment, and he has said all along
that my ears would improve. He has secured a book on the
treatment (osteopathically) of the deaf and partially deaf
and can now give the same treatment that Dr. Woodall gave me
Tuesday. In fact, he gave me such a treatment this morning.
I probably will go back to Dr. Woodall for a time...
"I shall let you know how the treatments affect me."
1/31/38 She requested
