This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of June, 1927, in accordance with request made by her son - Mr. [257].

Present: Edgar Cayce; Mr. [257], Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mrs. [903], and Mr. and Mrs. [900] and [136].

TEXT

1. [257]: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the condition you find at the present time, giving the causes of the existing condition, and the treatment and cure and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which we will ask of you.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here. We have had this before, you see.
3. Now, we find there are some improvements in the physical conditions of this body since last we had this here. The troubles as are produced in the body, through the condition of the blood - and the causes as given, in the mesenteric system - these show some improvement; yet those conditions that are as the effect of the poor eliminations in the body still cause distress. This is rather that of retraction, and will be gradually overcome, were [if] those conditions in full [were] applied as has been given.
4. Keep occasionally those packs [hot Epsom Salts] for the liver and over the abdomen, especially along the right side.
5. Keep the pad [Double X Radium Appliance] as has been given, and RENEW same by the recharging at least twice each day for a few minutes in the strong sunlight, or strong light from daylight as can be attained.
6. Keep the massage [osteopathic?] every other day, until the body shows eliminations are being set up normally.
7. As soon as is possible, have the lights give the effect of the new vibration, as will be produced by the X-rays, and by the ultra violet ray, or Alpine ray. Not too MUCH of this, but sufficient that the blood may be aided, see, toward proper rehabilitation. Ready for questions.
8. (Q) How often should the packs be given?
   (A) When necessary! Every occasion that there is the return of the burning or heaviness in the stomach and in the chest, for these as are felt on the upper right and left side are reflexes from the disturbance in mesenteric system - not heart's action.
9. (Q) What will stop coughing?
   (A) Removing the pressure from those nerves that lead to the bronchials, through manipulation, and proper elimination; for the tendency is to press diaphragm up, with the expansion, as it were, of gas and of any inflammation. Hence the retraction through nerves to those that produce coughing. This is as of irritation, and as a hack. Not that of the irritation from cold or congestion, see?
10. (Q) Does the coughing affect the heart?
    (A) No.
11. (Q) Is the heart in perfect condition?
    (A) Very good, considering the conditions of the body. Rarely is a heart in perfect condition.
12. (Q) Has the body a rheumatic heart, as stated by the doctors?
    (A) Would the condition [If the conditions would] be called rheumatic throughout the system, this might be called rheumatic heart. This is not rheumatic origin.
13. (Q) What are the causes of the joints being so sore, and what will relieve them?
    (A) Increase the eliminations. These are the effects of pressure, by poisons in system not eliminated, and radiate from those centers and plexuses as are governed by the mesenteric system.
14. (Q) When the bitterness worries body, what will relieve it?
    (A) Remove the poisons from the system. This is regurgitation, as given, see?
15. (Q) What food should body eat each meal of the day?
    (A) This would come under the direction rather of dietetics, than of diagnoses of the conditions - for these would vary from time to time. But as the general, this would be an OUTLINE for a diet for the body:
    Morning meals would consist of fruit JUICES, and of cereals.
    The lunch meal should consist of soups, or those broths that are of the strengthening nature.
    Those in the evening should consist of vegetables and of little meats. As much green vegetable as is digestible for the body. Do not add fruits with soups, or do not add fruits or fruit juices with any vegetable forces; for - for the body, and condition - they produce undue fermentation in the body.
    Be consistent. Be persistent, see?
16. (Q) What will make the body sleep at night?
    (A) The vibratory forces as are being set from the [Double X Radium] pad will bring the better conditions for this, as will correct [osteopathic] manipulations for the body.
17. (Q) Is the present pad strong enough?
    (A) Better were the Double X be used for the body, as given, for the radiation is to rebuild the blood supply in the system, and with this poor elimination, and the low pressure and high pressure - or a cold hepatic and a high exercise of blood flow, with a low blood count - it is necessary for higher vibration. Hence the Double X. We would change this.
18. (Q) Should body remain in New York this summer?
    (A) Better were the body where not so much noise, and more rest. Not so much worry.
19. (Q) Is the body worrying over financial affairs in Kentucky?
    (A) Rather worrying over those troubles as given.
20. (Q) Is it advisable for the body's better health to sell the real estate holdings in Kentucky?
    (A) This, as we find, would not change one way or another.
21. We are through for the present.

REPORTS

1. 6/13/27 "Today I take up my pen again to tell you that I have taken up the threads of life once more, thanks to God, my dear Judge and Dr. Kraus [Eugene R. Kraus, D.O.]. And my dear ones have worked so hard to put me on my feet once more. I was indeed very ill. Had the children let me alone I never would have had the pill doctor. His capsules set my stomach afire, and I knew they would the minute that I looked at that doctor. So, when we got your reading, the Epsom Salts packs helped immediately. Dr. Kraus was very much worried, but he helped me on my feet again. We had quite an argument over you, but he said he saw things differently and was willing to follow your reading, so all went well. I am ready to go down to his office Monday to have treatment. It takes me so long to get strong. I am wearing the Radium pad. And I do feel sometimes that I might have some inward trouble, as I keep this bitterness in mouth and can't get rid of it. Well, Judge, I have followed out the reading in every way. Now I am ready for you to see if the doctor [D.O.] is reaching the parts affected and doing his work right, as you gave no special instruction to him...
   "I do hope that you will build your hospital and see good results from same. If you have the patients with you I know the results will be good. I can't say all that I would like to on paper, but you know that I understand you well - wish that everybody could see things as I do, but we will show them and have a big following yet, and your name shall live in honor ever after."
2. 6/18/27 Son [257] wired for a rdg. for a business associate, saying: "Is it possible to give Mother reading same time reference terrible pains in shoulders and neck?"
3. 6/23/27 Son [257]'s wire: "Please get reading on Mother reference pain in shoulders and neck. She is much better. Shall we continue osteopath?"
4. 6/23/27 Son [257]'s letter:
   "I dislike exceedingly to ask you to work when you are away on a vacation but if you possibly can, I would like for you to take the Roessler reading and the one on Mother. I do not believe I will go to Chicago as I want to get Mother in good condition again and when I am here, she does much better. The reading was absolutely wonderful. Each individual thing checks up perfectly, she says, and she has carried out your instructions explicitly. The fever is gone and the nausea is gone, and all her pains have left with the exception of the severe ones in the back of her neck. She believes that the osteopath caused that trouble. She is wearing the Double X Pad and has had a treatment every other day from Dr. Kraus."
