EC: Yes. Yes, we find there is an accentuation or exaggeration of those tendencies in the colon that have produced, and do produce, the disorders with the digestive system and with the general nervous reactions in the body.
These, as we find, with the proper precautions from those things that make for the upsetting of the stomach and the digestion, may be cared for; first, by using those properties that would SETTLE the stomach, you see - equal parts limewater and cinnamon water, to an ounce of each, add:
The dose would be a teaspoonful every two hours, until the nausea and the griping in the duodenum is subsided.
Then we would begin with the AL-CAROID powder and the CAROID Bile Salts tablets, that would cleanse the system entirely; following same with at least sufficient of the Castoria (Fletcher's) to make the reaction to the liver, spleen and pancreas for normalcy.
Until we have removed those strains or tensions in the colon area, we will continue to have a return of these distresses - when the body is upset from any of those causes where the digestive system prevents the proper assimilations of foods. These arise, as we find, from what may be called strings or tenoids (?) that are as the scaling of the intestinal area, specifically in the turn in the ascending and transverse colon or nearer to the right side than to the left. This inflammation makes for those reactions in the general eliminations through the activities of the organs of the pelvis also, and with those properties that have been given for these will be beneficial - but to remove these we would have at least three to four days of the Castor Oil packs over the area from the lower portion of the lacteal ducts to the caecum, and extend over the lower portion of the jejunum and all the colon area. These would be kept for three to four hours each day, until the whole body has absorbed sufficient of these principles to make for an elasticity sufficient in the circulation through this portion of the body to rid same.
As there will be at times stress on the kidney area, on the lower portion of the kidneys then - during these three or four days of the oil pack applications - we would occasionally apply the Epsom Salts packs - saturated solution applied as packs.
All these packs should be hot, even with the hot weather. Ice packs may be kept on the head.
The tendency for these eliminations will be that which will bring the better conditions for the body.
Be mindful of the diet, that those foods are taken that are strengthening but that are already digested - or digestible only by the upper gastric juices.

(Q) When should the oil packs be begun?
(A) As soon as there has been the setting up of the eliminations from the properties given for the digestive area; that is, take the AL-CAROID after each meal for a day or two, and the CAROID about two or three times a day. After these have acted well, then take the Castoria until it has been absorbed by the system - very small doses taken every half hour, or half a teaspoonful. Then begin with the oil packs. We must get out of the system that which is producing the inflammation before we can begin to eliminate the causes of these, that will be of a permanent nature.
Do this, as we find for the body, and we will bring the better conditions.

7/15/34 Sister [243]'s ltr.: "Just a line to thank you for [340]'s rdg. I have been so worried about her ever since she came home last Thurs. I never in my life saw such a change in anybody in such a few days. She, of course, was so disappointed that she got sick and couldn't go on with [348]. I begged her not to attempt it in the first place but she just would do it. There was one thing in her rdg. that was in one of Mother's [3776]'s after she had that spell of colitis. That was the 'scaling of the intestines.' That worried me, but I wouldn't say that to [340] for the world. We will follow the rdg. to the letter."
