(Q) Will Miss Minna Phillips, with whom I am studying at
present, be successful in getting me into Mr. Strickland's
[F. Cowles Strickland] company at Strockbridge, Mass., this
summer?
(A) There are too many conditions that are to be questioned,
as to whether this could be said yes or no, but are the
conditions that are at present for the arrangements
successful in their undertakings - which, to be sure, depends
upon activities of individuals in the presentation of those
various entertainments - are these [if these are] successful,
then it would be. [See 349-10, Par R4.] Are these
unsuccessful, they would not.
(Q) If so, should I go with them, or will Mr. Louis
Altstruhl, director of the Brookfield Players at Brookfield,
Conn., take me with them for the summer?
(A) This is not as an ASSURED association, though they may
BOTH be kept in mind and hand until there is a proposition
of a definite nature made. Then accept the one that seems to
present at THAT time the better opportunity for the
DEVELOPING of the conditions that are DESIRED by the body.
(Q) Will I be offered the opportunity to go with Miss
Elizabeth Miele's company at Sharon, Conn., the Sharon
Players; or will Chamberlain Brown offer me a chance with
one of his stock companies for the summer?
(A) These may or may not. These depend upon many unseen
conditions. These of the first two, and the last of the
first two, offer - as we find, the better opportunities at
the present. All such circumstances change, and depend much
upon the temperament of MANY individuals who - If they don't
know their will themselves, who could tell it?
(Q) If given the opportunity, which would be the best
for me, in any of the four companies just given?
(A) Just given. Just given.
(Q) Is there any advice or information I should have at this
time, at the beginning of my new career, to assist me in
getting started on this work?
(A) Have an ideal set before self and work towards that,
knowing that ability, as well as association or pull, or
personality, applies as much or more than any element in
making a success of an undertaking of this nature.
We are through for the present.

BACKGROUND
See
349-2 on
8/13/26 and subsequent Mental-Spiritual Rdgs.
in which advice was given occasionally for her health.
4/25/32 "I seem to have a very bad skin condition which
started a little over a year ago and which I seem to be
unable to cope with. It just about has me frantic so I'm
going to ask for a rdg. and send you the money which I would
have to give to a skin specialist. I have greater confidence
in the rdgs. and I would rather you had the money."
4/28/32 She submitted questions.
REPORTS
5/06/32 GD's note: "It's alright about the arsenic. It was
given in the rdgs. for [
341] and [
78] several yrs. ago and it
did wonders. They had bumps all over their faces, too, at
that time."
5/18/32 "I feel that the arsenic is doing its work although
the family was worried about it. I feel it is quite radical
in its action, although I am following the rdg. very
carefully, and keeping a record of each time I take it. I
feel it is making my face much better and I certainly am
happy about it."
6/24/32 "The arsenic is doing the trick, but I've lost
weight and don't feel up to par. However, a
6-7 weeks'
leave of absence from the office will work wonders, I'm
sure."
8/06/32 "I'm sending you a program of last week's play...
I was in it and got very fine comments. It was a wonderful
experience and I was grateful for it."
8/19/32 She submitted questions on her life and work, but
8/23/32 she was in an accident and in the hospital. After
that she caught the grippe, went home
8/31/32 with 104
temperature and was in bed 3 weeks with bronchial pneumonia
and a touch of pleurisy.
