This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of June, 1933, in accordance with request made by her sister, Miss [349], Active Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. EC: We have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces; that are latent and manifested in the personalities of the present entity, known as [352].
2. In considering those things in relation to the universe and universal forces, that may be applicable in the entity's experience in the present, it will be well that those influences dealing with the astrological as well as the appearances or experiences in the earth plane, that affect or influence the entity in the present, be considered.
3. While the astrological conditions may, as the body-mind develops, influence the entity; in the present they only have a minor influence, while the sojourns or earth's experiences influence the activities greatly.
4. Hence we will find that to many it will appear that the entity's experience in the earth's plane in the present is that of fate; or that conditions, or what not, have been kind to the entity; that the ways or the opportunities that are the entity's in the present are much easier; that every condition seems to consider the entity, rather than the entity considering others.
5. As to whether there will come contentment and a development of the entity in the experiences, as the mental and physical body advances, will depend upon what the entity does with these experiences or opportunities.
6. These conditions, as we find, are quite unusual then to many an experience that has been given for those through such channels of information; for the body mentally is unusual in many ways, and the personality of the entity - from its former experiences - is rather impelling upon the influence or activity of others.
7. Hence much has been given the entity in its experience that may be rightly termed the opportunity for the use of the better influences, or those that have their foundation in the spiritual and higher mental developments of the entity.
8. Then, as given, we find the astrological influences rather secondary; yet - as seen - these may influence in the advancing, or as conditions or experiences advance in this particular period:
9. From Jupiter we find those influences making for the entity's ability, as it were, to become the leader in whatsoever set or group the body CHOOSES.
10. And in any phase of the entity's experience, contacts with others depend upon the ability of the entity to influence through the personality of self.
11. But such friends, such leadership, must require more than an erstwhile interest; or more than just an impressing or imposing personality.
12. And, to maintain or to retain those positions gained by such contacts, it will be seen that there are those things, elements or conditions that the entity in self - as an individual - must maintain, and must stand for.
13. And these must be grounded in that which is of a constructive nature, that makes for an appreciation - as well as an interest.
14. The influences from Venus make for an accentuation in many ways in this same direction or experience, and there are those influences that indicate the body should - in the early portion of its experience in the present sphere - become that influence to establish a home; provided there are those things set in self as to the maintaining of that which is the basis for the building of a home.
15. Outward appearances, outward activities, would belie such suggestions or activities; yet INNATELY these ARE they that are the influences that may (provided the body uses its mental abilities in the constructive manner) make the present experience become a building one.
16. The lack of responsibility, the lack of the desire to ASSUME responsibility, makes for those attitudes in the activities of the entity that would indicate some activity pertaining to not wholly a commercial field, but rather as a companion or secretary to one that would need the services of the entity; or a social secretary would appear to be - OUTWARDLY - that to which the entity may aspire, or may direct self.
17. This last would appear, to some, to be the EASIER way; and would bring gratification in the experience of the entity in many ways and manners, yet - as we find - the end would be the inclination to become as one haphazard, one lacking in creating that stamina necessary in the influence as to become a DEVELOPING experience for the entity.
18. Hence the other, though the harder in some respects, would be the better choice; yet the entity must of itself make the decisions within the experience of self, as to that way it - the entity - would choose.
19. As to the appearances that, as indicated, have such an influence in the experience of the entity:
20. In the one before this we find the entity was during those periods when there was the establishing of the freedom of this land, these surroundings in America; and among those there was that individual who made intercession with the French land, acting in the capacity of the ambassador, as well as gaining the ear of the peoples in power.
21. The entity then acted in the capacity of secretary, companion and leader, to that individual; and was LEFT in the French land, to LATER return to Philadelphia in a place of position or power - yet from the social standard it was not considered any too high, although the entity was accepted owing to the political conditions that surrounded those with whom the entity was associated. Then the name was Adelia, and also called Emma.
22. In the experience, from the material standpoint much was gained; from the development of the mental - and the abilities for the spiritual influences to become the guiding forces in the soul's activity through the various experiences - not so good. Yet, PERSONALITY developed; and those forces that may be used for weal or woe in the present experiences arise from those INNATE influences, INNATE experiences, from the sojourn in those environs.
23. And we find those desires for travel, those desires to act in those capacities as one to whom many - or all - should cater, and not be questioned as to those things that make for the impelling influence - arise from that experience; as well as the entity's abilities to grasp quickly those things pertaining to the exchange of social activities of individuals that may be called of different classes, sets, or the like.
24. Before this we find the entity was in that Grecian experience during those periods when Cretus and Artaceus [?] [Artaceus?] were among those that added to the activities in classifying the stage activities with the fetes or gala occasions of worship.
25. The entity then was among those that were the companions and associates of those that acted in the capacity of presenting or preparing the associations for those that would engage in such activities.
26. Hence, as may be termed, the one to whom the artist peoples of every field came for counsel; and for those pleasures or activities in their social life, their commercial life, their political life, and all phases of their activity.
27. In the name Plenia, the entity gained in those experiences and lost; for we have pointed out that which may become the experience of those that are given the opportunity for the manifestation or expression of that which a soul would worship as its creative influences in any manifested experience in the earth, and use same for gratification or justification of self - in the activities in relationship or association with others, without considering other than self. As it did in that experience, such makes for contentions, inharmony, disappointments, disillusionments; and destructive influences were brought to the mental and soul experience of the entity.
28. In the present we find much of the tempestuous in the personality; the abilities to forgive and forget easily, also arise from that period - provided that in so doing the point the entity would carry forward is aided (in the mind of the entity); and these are not always good, for they beget selfishness - and self-indulgence is the fruit of such mental activities, or such potentialities of an entity that seeks through such channels to make way for self.
29. Before this we find the entity was in that land now known as the Egyptian, during that period when there was the establishing of those tenets and truths that they might be distributed to others through the activity of the Priest that had been returned - and those associated with him.
30. The entity then was among those in the temple worship, and aided in that activity in the Temple Beautiful; yet there arose - from those activities and associations - that which made the opportunity for the entity to turn much that was gained into self-aggrandizements, self-indulgences in the way of social, political and economic affairs of the entity.
31. Hence the ability TO dress, the ability to DESIRE those things that partake of personal adornments to the body of unusual characters or kind, arises from the entity's experience in that land.
32. The entity gained in some directions, lost in many - through the experience, as Na-Li-La.
33. In the present will be seen especially the influence that linens have upon the entity, whether that worn close to body or that prepared for others. This is from an unusual experience of the entity, in its respective cleansing through that particular period.
34. Yet, in the applications of self, the ability to make self - when DESIRED to be - apparently compatible, apparently adjusting itself to the various environs in which self may be surrounded or may find self; this also is seen from that period.
35. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, and that to which it may attain - and how:
36. As we have indicated, there are two ways lying before the entity. These may be chosen BEST by self; for the gift of the Creative influence is that - in the life, or in material affairs, termed in the lives of each soul - there are the abilities to make self, through the application of will, one with the constructive influences or to turn same to self's own indulgencies.
37. And those that seek to know self may find the way. Those that find the way become content, and find joy, peace, happiness, even though the way be hard.
38. Those that look for self-indulgencies, self-interests, without being tempered with the true love as of the Father in life TO those that seek His way, THESE find those things that make for hardships, strifes, turmoils, even though there are - from the MATERIAL standpoint - abundances of earth's materials, earth's storehouse, in the experience of an entity.
39. Then, seek Him while He may be found. Build the life in those things that make for constructive influences in the experiences of others; for in so doing will the help come as from the hills of the Lord.
40. Ready for questions.
41. (Q) How can she conduct herself so as to gain the good-will and respect of her family and friends; and rid herself of her temper?
    (A) As indicated, there must be builded the purposefulness in knowing self as one with constructive influences - that build for peace, harmony and happiness.
42. (Q) How should she be treated by her family?
    (A) In that manner which may be called as loving indifference to the temperamental outbursts; not condemnation, but in that of quiet, peaceful contemplation with the body as to the manner in which the personality may be made for constructive influences or forces in the experience.

1. 5/29/33 Sister [349]'s letter: "I am also sending you the request to a Life Rdg. on [352]. That, I feel, should be a very interesting rdg."

1. 7/13/33 Sister [349]'s letter: "[352]'s reading was absolutely perfect. She accepts it for what it is, but being so young and having had no actual experience with the [your] work in any phase, other than an instinctive belief in it, she sometimes questions if I didn't tell you about her, which of course I didn't do, and so explained to her, - but it really is marvelous. Especially so, her experience in this country, as companion to the French ambassador - because, having graduated high school last month, she received the French medal for having had the highest consistent marks in French throughout her four years of high school. Her average for the four years' work in French was 96. Not only that, but in May, two tests - written and oral - were held for the best students in French in the 144 high schools in New York City, and in the two tests, [352] came out 10th highest in the 33 winners, and received a medal and a diploma. Funny, isn't it?"
2. 11/13/39 See 352-2, her first physical reading; she was then 24 yrs. old and had been married for some time, so she did follow the life reading's advice and got married early.
3. 1/07/42 See 352-3, her second physical and last reading. She and her husband were then living in Philadelphia! This is interesting in light of her incarnation just previous to this when she RETURNED to Philadelphia from France. GD.
