TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body and those conditions that have caused and still cause disturbances with the better physical functioning of the body, [365].
2. Now, as we find, conditions are improved from that as we have had here before. While there is not the full coordination in the physical functioning of the body, and this at times brings distresses to the body in those reactions in the physical functionings, to those portions of the extremities, portions of the functioning organs that are disturbed at these times, the applications that have been suggested have kept the body in a much nearer and a much more normal reaction.
3. As we would find, we would continue the osteopathic adjustments through the manipulations, rather in a spasmodic sort of way or manner. That is, we would have two or three adjustments and general manipulations for two or three weeks, and then rest or leave off for two or three weeks, and then have them again - in the present.
4. But we would add to these a tonic for the body, and, as we will see, while the combinations of these are many, in a manner, they will function with the digestive forces of the system, with the corrective measures necessary in the activities through the eliminating and assimilating system. And if there will be the more adherence to an alkalin- reacting diet, and a body and blood and nerve building, we will find the conditions better and greatly improved in the very near future.
5. Combine then, these ingredients for a tonic, in this manner: To 1 gallon of rain or distilled water add:

   Wild Cherry Bark.................2 ounces,

   Sarsaparilla Root................2 ounces,
White Oak Bark.................1/2 ounce,
Prickly Ash Bark...............1/2 ounce,
Yellow Dock Root...............1/2 ounce,
Burdock Root...................1/2 ounce,
Elder Flower.....................3 ounces,
Buchu Leaves...................1/4 ounce,
Mandrake Root...................10 grains.

   Reduce this by slow boiling to 1 quart. Strain and while warm add 3 ounces of pure grain alcohol with 2 drams of Balsam of Tolu cut in same. The dose would be 1/2 teaspoonful 4 times each day. This would be kept until the whole of the quantity is taken. Take it before the meals and just before retiring in the evening. Do this.

7. (Q) Is my body in better working condition, especially the liver and stomach? How is my digestion?
   (A) It is in some better working condition. The disturbances that arise from the formations of gas and the tendencies for the constipation to disturb the body will be materially aided with the addition of these herbs in the combination as indicated. And, of course, these will be distributed and these tendencies changed by the manipulations.
8. (Q) How is my digestion?
   (A) At times very much better and at others not so well. These conditions arise from the disturbances in the liver and gall duct area.
9. (Q) What can I do to prevent the teeth from wearing down?
   (A) Use more of an alkalin-reacting diet; as quantities of orange juice with a little lemon in same, as four parts orange juice to one part lemon; grapefruit, raw vegetables, potato peels, Ventriculin taken occasionally, these will materially aid in adding those elements necessary for the correcting of the glands with the system that make for the proper secretions to the body for the building of enamel, and for the activity - of course - of the thyroid.
10. (Q) Would Kal or Vegetrate, rich in calcium and phosphorous, be beneficial in this condition?
    (A) As we find, the Ventriculin with the iron would be the more helpful; this taken about three to four times each week.
11. (Q) Will the enamel form again on the teeth?
    (A) Provided the correct diet and correct elements for the system are kept.
12. (Q) Do the headaches and bilious attacks come from incorrect eating and what can I do to prevent these?
    (A) Keep more in the alkalin reactions and the eliminations, even though it becomes necessary at times to use the high enemas. This will be the better way to keep away the headaches and reduce those tendencies for the accumulations of too much acidity in the system.
13. (Q) What can I do to gain in vitality? Would a sun lamp help?
    (A) Sun light or the ultra-violet rays are helpful or beneficial. As we find, the sun baths would be much preferable to a sun lamp in this particular season or time. These are the better violet ray at this particular time, especially with the properties as indicated for the gastric juices of the stomach itself, that will make for better assimilations.
14. (Q) Does my body eliminate as it should?
    (A) If it did we wouldn't have these recurrences of the liver disturbance or the gall duct and the tendency for constipation to form in the system!
15. (Q) Is my blood as it should be? Have I lost the anemic condition?
    (A) Some better in these directions, but - as we will find - these properties as indicated in the tonic will be correcting in this direction.
16. (Q) Can I drink a glass of wine or beer occasionally?
    (A) Wine is a food if taken with brown or black bread, or whole wheat or rye bread. But do not take beer for this particular body. A glass of wine a day is helpful; that is, not too big a glass.
17. (Q) Am I able to eat egg yolk because of my liver condition?
    (A) The body may eat egg yolk; but NOT the white.
18. (Q) Does my body need any special food which it is not getting?
    (A) As indicated by those necessary elements of calcium, the chlorines, the forms that make for the activity of the glands, as indicated by the character of the diet. And not too much of meats at any time for the body, and when meats are taken let these be either of liver, pigs' feet, tripe or lamb, or fish, or shell fish, in moderation.
19. (Q) Any other advice?
    (A) Do these, as we find, will be the better for this body, [365].

BACKGROUND

1. See 365-2 on 6/29/33 for continued treatment for anemia, etc.
2. 2/04/35 "Through the suggestion of a Physical Rdg. [365-1] which I rec'd fr. you dated 11/22/32, I started taking osteopathic tr. of Dr. Oliver Stretch on 2/17/33. This will be 2 yrs. this month. Dr. S., besides giving the osteopathic manipulations, except sinusoidal applications, believes in curing through correct eating. By this, he means taking foods which are compatible, as: fresh fruits or vegetables with proteins; fresh fruits with nuts or dried fruits; raw vegetables with a cooked vegetable; very little starchy foods with raw vegetables; no alcoholic drinks, candy, cakes or pastries; milk in sour or clabbered forms only.
   "I have followed these instructions faithfully as near as possible. Of course, sometimes the desire for candy or a piece of cake or a glass of wine got the better of me, and I would indulge. Several days or a wk. after I would suffer the consequences by having a headache or bilious attack. Whether it was this indulgence or the condition of my body, I do not know.
   "In the last 6 mos. I have noticed that my teeth are wearing down very much. The enamel near the gums of my front teeth is gone, and the grinding surface of all of my teeth has large indentations. Am wondering if the change in diet did this, or acid condition of my body, or some deficiency in my eating. Dr. S. says this will all correct itself.
   "Had lost in weight in the beginning, going down to 80 lbs. from 97 lbs. Since then, in the last 8 mos., I have gained gradually and keep around 91 lbs. I feel that I ought to weigh more and ought to feel better, considering the length of time I have been taking care of my health.
   "I hope I am not tiring you in reviewing what I have done in the past 2 yrs., but I feel that in order to get results one must state causes.
   "It has been a long time since my Ck. Physical Rdg. was given, and I wish to have another one, having the following questions ans'd:..."
