7/27/33 "On July 4th I began taking the treatments according
to the rdg. of June 29th. So far, on the joints there is no
visible change, with the exception of the right ankle which
is a little swollen and sore. I have also been taking the
drops and it appears that the eruption has been breaking out
more.
"During the past 3 wks. that I have been taking the
treatments I have experienced chills even on the warmest
days, and at times feel very weak. My back also has been
aching much of the time. The sick feeling that I have so
much has affected my appetite, and I have not been eating
well. At night I sleep fairly well but not as good as I used
to before taking up the treatments, so I presume that the
body must be making a change.
"Two days after I wrote and made the appointment for my rdg.,
my right eye became painful and blood-shot, so that I was
unable to see with the eye. I figured it to be a cold so
bathed the eye and thought in a day or so it would be
alright, as I had a similar experience a couple of yrs. ago.
After waiting about a wk. and it didn't get any better I felt
that it might be caused by some bad teeth that I had in my
mouth, so I had them extracted. I don't know yet what the
cause is, but the pain has left the eye and it isn't as
blood-shot, but I am unable to see anything very well with
it. I can just about distinguish articles about me. I have
kept the eye closed to rest it and have not been able to read
or write as it is a strain on the left eye [Conjunctivitis?].
"May I take this opportunity and thank you for your kind
interest in me. You spoke of further information to be given
me after hearing of the condition of my case, under the
treatment. I hope my explanation is satisfactory and I shall
be at home all the time so that any day you find convenient
for yourself you will know that I am at home at the above
address."
8/05/33 EC wrote him an encouraging letter, urging him to
write again within the next 10 days submitting questions.
8/11/33 "I am glad to say that I am feeling a little better,
although I have a few scattered pains. The disturbance of
the skin has not got me discouraged, because it has been
pretty bad at times before the treatments. I have faith in
what is being done for me and don't expect miracles to happen
overnight. My joints, of course, haven't showed any signs of
limbering, but then they have been stiff so long it will take
a while to notice any change." [He submitted questions.]
