(Q) Can you give me some idea of how long it will be before
I will meet the individual whom I will marry, if I put forth
my best efforts to merit such?
(A) As to whether this is today or tomorrow, in the putting
forth of the efforts that bring about within self's own
mental being, own PSYCHIC FORCES, or soul forces of self,
will bring those CONTENTMENTS - if not wholly satisfying,
contentments - that makes for a much more peaceful, much more
plausible, experience for the entity. As to how soon? When
there is builded such that other relationships, or changes
that may have come about by the variations from associations
- in the meeting of karmic forces in each experience - then
there may be builded that as will bring about that
contentment which makes for a life much worth while. In the
ideal, then, rests that as to time, place, or the
circumstances as may surround same. If there is still held
that attitude of old, as it were, longing again for the
fleshpots of Egypt, how CAN the heart, mind and soul, be set
in a direction as to merit that of even being directed TO, or
comforted by or through, those associations that would lead
on to the land of promise? or that experience in the Eden of
life that makes for a continuity of hope, understanding,
peace, joy, harmony? Forgetting, then, the things that are
behind, press onward to the mark of the Higher Calling as may
be set in the IDEALS. In lending to those individuals whom a
body may meet from day to day, even the little things that
are as emoluments of, attributes of, the Maker, there is
builded that peace and harmony, and joy, that comes in
well-doing.
(Q) What are the prospects for the summer?
(A) That would depend much upon that which has planned, or
upon much that has been left to general circumstance.
(Q) Should I try and leave ... [home]...for the summer, or
next year, or both?
(A) That depends upon what has been determined, or is to be
determined, in self, as to the various relationships and
conditions as may surround the life. As has been seen, those
prospects of leaving are well - in MANY of those changes that
may come about. Accept these; but be sure - where there has
been the ideal set - to remain first true to self, and thou
will not be false to any!
(Q) Would it be advisable for [Miss [
1922]] and [me] I to
attend Columbia summer school for six weeks?
(A) Would be well.
(Q) Should I try and get a position away for next winter?
(A) There will be three offered! Take the second one!
(Q) Would teaching be better than some other new line of
work?
(A) Teaching would be the best, for the next year.
(Q) Any suggestions of where and to whom to apply?
(A) Through those channels that have already been set in
motion would there be these offers, as we find.
(Q) Any other advice or counsel for the body?
(A) Build on as thou hast started. Keep thine face towards
the light, and the shadows will be in the background. Turn
not upon those things that would become an undoing, but press
onward - upward - ever!
We are through.

REPORTS
GD's note: She was upset with the rdg. at first, because of
the information on Egypt which was so startling and
unexpected, but it explained everything perfectly when
properly understood.
6/22/32 "I feel so desolate and lonely...with him up at her
house. I can hardly stand it... If only he'd just call and
talk to me a few seconds over the phone and wish me a nice
trip, it'd ease the feeling a little, but a few blocks from
here he's at the Wed. night fights cheering some boxers, with
her beside him. I don't believe I can stand it much longer
if the hurt and pain doesn't ease up. If only he'd call - I
wouldn't call him - if I died." [GD's note: Still she wrote
him letters continually.]
7/03/32 "We are getting along alright... I signed up for
Diction, French, Tap and Swimming."
7/16/32 See
538-31 and
538-32, Par. 12-A mentioning that
[
538] was the abandoned baby daughter of [
369] [and [
195]] in
her Persian incarnation.
See subsequent Ck. Physical Rdgs.
6/20/34 See [
369]'s note, under
1922-1 Reports, in re her
friend's automatic or inspirational writing, in which they
had been "indulging" for some time. Following EC's rdg.
5752-4 on the sources of psychic information, they tapered
off on the writing. It had come to be a sort of crutch for
both of them. They were roommates and constant companions
during the winter months, coming to depend on each other
more than the ordinary; both lonely, craving companionship
and marriage. Perhaps Miss [
1922] would have married except
for the fact that Miss [
369] was so lonely and unhappy that
Miss [
1922] could not bring herself to make dates; she did
not want [
369] to suffer by knowing that her friend was being
"fulfilled" while she wasn't.
10/12/34 Miss [
369]'s letter advised that she felt stronger
and better physically [See
369-12 Reports] but that she was
very unhappy:
"Have not heard a line from [G...] since he left, and you
have some idea of just how long that has been. Have written,
but no answer so far. It seems even more strange and
neglectful this time, since he had just been with me and had
said he was going to try to write once a week."
2/18/35 "Haven't started my music - just haven't the money.
I practice [the piano] though, every day by myself. Tomorrow
night [
1922] and I go in to the forum lecture, 3rd in the
series of 4, in town, Dr. Parkes Cadman. Expect to enjoy it,
and Wed. night is the 3rd Community Concert of the year. The
violinist, Nathan Milstein... I have had a sewing mood...
No movies recently... Read a great deal and manage to keep
busy all the time and never even get caught up on little
things to do, that I consider important and yet everyone
seems to think I lead an idle existence... Isn't it nice to
be able to dismiss [G...]? It all seems very far away most
of the time, in the right sort of way."
7/22/35 See Friend's letter under
1922-1 Reports indicating:
"[
369] seems to be discouraged and very much upset. Things
seem to have lost their meaning for her."
