This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 21st day of August, 1933, in accordance with request made by the father, Mr. [...], new Active Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [779].

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [395].
2. Now, as we find, there are many conditions - physical and mental - that disturb the better physical forces of the body. These, as we find, have existed since birth.
3. And the information regarding the entrance of this entity in the present period would be of interest.
4. The injury occurred from the presentation, in the manner of presentation; for it was a breach presentation, and there were not those precautions taken that should have been by the one ATTENDING the mother at the time.
5. Those conditions now prevent proper coordination throughout the system.
6. While the manner of the pressure that exists in the structural portions of the body, especially in the lumbar and sacral area of the cerebro-spinal system, affects the functioning organs in a specific way and manner, WITH the correction of this (which, as we find, may be accomplished with persistent and consistent applications of the character of treatments that would bring an alignment and the alleviation of the pressures in the system), there may not only be overcome those defects in the eliminations as related to the inactivity of the colon in its entirety - but there would also be made corrections that would enable the body to be able to be trained to walk, talk, and the pressures that affect the mental forces of the body would naturally adjust themselves.
7. While the body will be found to be backward in development, both in the mental and physical aspects of same, yet - as we find - those that would give the entity, the soul, the opportunity for development in this experience would of themselves find much as to make an understanding between the relationships of manifested life in an earth plane and Creative Forces that man calls God.
8. In the physical body, then, in the present, we would find these applications - for the present period of twenty-eight days - to be the most effective:
9. Each day, except when, as will be given, other applications are to be made, we would massage the whole of the cerebrospinal system in the evening when ready for retirement with equal parts of olive oil and tincture of myrrh. Heat the oil and add the myrrh, about a tablespoonful and a half of each. To this, after it is well mixed, add oil of sassafras five minims. Necessary to keep the sassafras oil stirred each time the fingertips are dipped in the saucer for massaging this into the spine of the developing body. Be sure to take particular pains that those portions from the end of the spine to the 9th dorsal are massaged, and that all the body will absorb of solution is rubbed into same. Also from the top of the shoulder blades to the base of the brain this should be massaged thoroughly, particularly - to be sure - the whole of the cerebrospinal system.
10. We will find also that with the use of Petrolagar (the anti-acid kind) in the enemas they will be more beneficial in relieving the body of the refuse forces, and will enable the body to assimilate the foods better. Used in the enemas to cleanse the colon, about a tablespoonful kept stirred in the water as the enemas are given.
11. Well also that small quantities, one to three minims each day, of Glyco-Thymoline be given with the milk in the diet.
12. We would not alter in the present the diet as given.
13. Once each week we would change the rub that we have just given, over the sacral and lumbar area specifically. In this period, or this day, we would use this for the rub:
    To 1 quart of straight gasoline, add:

    Camphor Gum....................1/2 dram,
Oil of Cedar...................1/4 ounce,
Oil of Mustard...................4 minims.

    Stir this WELL together. This may be kept as a solution, while the other rub as given daily (except on this day) will of necessity be made at each using.
14. Massage this solution of the gasoline and compound ONLY on the lumbar and sacral area, extending - though all down the limbs or the legs with this solution, especially in the locomotary centers in the hips, in the knees, and particularly in the feet.
15. After the twenty-eight days we would give further instructions.
16. Ready for questions.
17. All of these, as will be seen, may be administered by those close to the body. Not necessary to carry other places; but be consistent - be persistent.
18. Know in self, and through the faith there is in self in the ability of the Creator to bring LIFE into the world in its manifested form, He is also able to keep same running properly; provided that of the life, the truth, that is known is manifested in those who would show forth same.

1. 8/03/33 Father requested rdg. via his friend, Mr. [779].
2. 8/17/33 Father's letter: "The doctors we have had the baby with tell us he has an enlarged colon. His bowels do not move naturally as they should. We have to use an enema all the time. Also they tell us he had something like a birth injury and he does not walk or talk yet. Can he be cured, by whom and how? He has gas on his stomach most of the time. What can we give him to stop same? He has also had quite a few convulsions. How can they be stopped? The doctors tell us he is not right mentally and his mind will never be as bright as it should be. Is that right? If so, is there anything we can do for same?" [Cerebral palsy?]

1. 8/28/33 Father's note: "We are beginning your treatment on baby today."
2. 9/29/33 "We have finished the 28 day treatment on the baby. His condition seems to be better. Will we have to have another rdg. and, if so, how will we go about it?"

4. 10/09/33 Father's questions: "We want to know what further treatment to give him to keep him improving, and about when he will walk and talk. Will his colon improve without an operation, or should we have one? We are interested as to his mental condition, and would like to know if he will be alright mentally when he is older.

6. 7/60 Dr. Walter N. Pahnke, M.D., in his study of 96 cases of epilepsy from the Edgar Cayce records, states:
   "Case [395] was classified in group 2. A birth injury is described, and symptoms which would sound like cerebral palsy. Convulsions are only mentioned as a symptom and are not described in detail."
