This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of May, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [412], Active Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [412].
2. In seeking mental and spiritual understanding, and seeking material gains and physical well-being, these each should be considered from their sources in manifestation. To be sure, purposes, aims, desires of each individual in his expressions should be from the spiritual well-being. But to seek so vast a difference as a success materially irrespective makes for confusion in the expression of ANY individual.
3. We find in the PHYSICAL being of the body that there are disturbances from poisons which have been and are an accumulation from the lack of coordination in the gland secretions, as well as in the assimilating forces of the body. There has been an unbalancing in the elements necessary for a proper coordination.
4. So, we find it would be well at this time to add that within the system which would PURIFY the bloodstream, as a tonic compounded in such a manner as to make for the coordinating of the various channels of elimination and the activities towards creating the proper balance within the system. This would relieve many of the strains that exist in the vegetative or sympathetic nervous forces of the body; that bring distresses to the eyes, ears, the organs of the sensory forces, and in the superficial circulation the tendencies for a rash - and the disorders at times in these directions. The tonic would be prepared, for the better physical forces of this body, in this way and manner:
5. To 2 ounces of Peptotol or Lactated Pepsin as the base or carrier, add:

   Elixir of Wild Cherry Bark...........1/2 ounce,
Compound Syrup of Sarsaparilla.......1/2 ounce,
Tincture of Stillingia...............1/4 ounce,
Elixir of Calisaya...................1/2 ounce,
Syrup of Rhubarb.....................1/4 ounce,
Syrup of Cascara.....................1/4 ounce,
Tincture of Capsici....................4 minims.

6. Shake the solution together before the dosage is taken, which would be half a teaspoonful after each meal and upon retiring. This must be taken consistently.
7. And it would be well that the diet be made in accord with same. We would keep nearer toward an alkalinity in the diet. Little or no food values carrying quantities of grease. Less of the breads or those things that make for the accumulation of elements that are clogging to the system, in the form of starches that have been and are indicated as a portion of the diet. So, a diet according to this outline would be well:
8. Mornings - the citrus fruit juices or cereals that have a great deal of all the elements; especially Vitamins A, B, C, D, such as would be found in whole wheat or the cereals that are dry and the Maltex preparations for the cooked cereals; but do not have cereals AND citrus fruit juices at the same meal. Not too great a quantity of sweets at the morning meal. If these have to be included, let them be principally in the form of honey and the derivatives of same; for these will be much better.
9. Noons - (or one meal each day, preferably at noon) RAW vegetables! Not the ones that make distresses in certain elements, but combine many of them together; as tomatos, lettuce, celery, onions, radish, carrots, beets, beans, and those of such natures that make for roughage that requires the well mastication.
10. Evenings - rather the well-cooked whole vegetable diet, with lamb, fowl, fish or the like.
11. And take TIME to masticate the food well!
12. In this respect, we find that the teeth also need local attention in the present; especially the upper molars and some of the lower teeth toward the front. But with the changing of the diet, and with the properties combined in the tonic, the general health including the teeth will be materially aided; although we would have the local attention in the present to the teeth themselves.
13. Also we would have the stimulating vibrations from the Violet Ray (with the flat bulb or the large bulb) applied each evening just before retiring, for three to four minutes; especially across the shoulders, over the back of the neck, around the face, down and across the diaphragm area. This will STIMULATE the circulation and be activative with those forces that are taken internally through the tonic as well as working with the diets of the body.
14. As to the MENTAL attitudes of the body, these should be kept more in the constructive forces; not as rote, but as the real activative principles of, "As ye would that others should do to YOU, do ye even so to them," IRRESPECTIVE of what THEIR activity IS to thee! As ye would that thy heavenly Father should do to thee, as ye would that thy better self (which finds expression within the activity and the associations) should do to thyself, so do ye to thy neighbor, thy friend, thy associate, thy companions. In this manner alone do constructive principles come into activity. To claim that the belief is this or that, and then act as if necessary that thy fellow man be dealt with as if that thou believest is not a universal law, makes a combative force within thine own self and in thine daily experience.
15. As to thy SPIRITUAL life, keep that thou hast learned well, yet hath applied only partially; that the God within thee with universal constructive forces worketh together for GOOD to those that - of the faith - MANIFEST same in their dealings with their fellow man!
16. In thy BUSINESS associations and relations, let these be EVER constructive. BUILD within each garment, each association, that which gives - and will make in the association of the individual with same - SOMETHING of a blessing, SOMETHING of a constructive influence!

18. (Q) What is the cause and treatment for condition of right ear?
    (A) As indicated, there are poisons in the system that find expressions in the vegetative system. Applying those things in the manner that has been indicated will be helpful.
19. (Q) For the skin disease on hand?
    (A) The same.
20. (Q) Please give condition of the eyes, and treatment.
    (A) As indicated, these effects are from conditions that arose in times past. And yet the system has adjusted and will adjust itself, if there is kept the balance in the eliminating forces of the body - as well as the necessary assimilated forces to resuscitate and rebuild. This condition is arising from the general weaknesses that have been indicated. The applications indicated that will bring normal activity through the body should materially aid in every direction.
21. (Q) Please give any helpful advice as to his work.
    (A) BE and DO as has been indicated, and there will come for the body - for the associations - the best in its activity.
22. (Q) Any advice on spiritual development?
    (A) As indicated. SO LIVE, so act, with each individual contacted, that ye may meet in thyself, in thy brother, in thy friend, every expression that thou hast made towards anyone that may apparently or actively be adverse to thee. For ye must meet thyself in that ye mete to thy fellow man.
