10/09/27 Letter from [
779] to EC: "...Mr. Cayce, [
427]
received his reading in due time and we have been reading and
studying this over and to get all the conditions whereby we
can know him better, as it has always been a kind of a puzzle
to his mother and myself to place him, as it has always been
very hard to get an expression from him in anyway as to his
purpose and wishes for the future. After reading the reading
we can now see more why he has not been more free in his
expressions. We feel that he is a very good boy and is much
different from most boys, he is quiet and sweet and has no
desire to be with any who is the least bit considered bad.
While there is some of the reading that we do not understand
clearly, we are hoping to work same out from time to time.
We will by example and advice try our very best to keep him
in the straight path and to ever put his trust in Him who is
ever able to help mankind bear their burdens. When we asked
him what he thought about the reading he said 'I don't think
or feel now that I can be what the reading says,' because if
he were going to be a preacher or speaker he would want to be
the best and not as many that he knows. Anyway if I were in
position to send him to college after he finishes here this
session I would put him in college to study on the line of
work that was given, and he too said since you said it, he
believed it must be true and would be willing to try it out.
We explained that at present he maybe did not feel or see it
this way, but after his thoughts were turned this way, then a
new view would come. I shall be very glad to have an
expression from you, I mean your personal way of seeing it in
connection with the data given. I want to do all that I can
under the circumstances...
"[
427] says he will write you about the reading soon..."
11/01/27 "I appreciate the rdg. you gave me very much. I sure
do thank you ever so much for the information and your
kindness."
5/15/28 Letter from [
779] to EC: "...[
427] will finish high
school soon and then he will be ready to start out in the
business world. We wish we were able to send him to college,
but will have to leave it off for a while yet..." [GD's
note:
6/03/34 Father [
779] said [
427] had graduated young,
only 1 other younger in class of 200.]
9/11/28 Letter from [
779] to EC: "...[
427] has been working
at one of the theaters here since the close of school closed.
He will not be able to go to college this year. We are very
anxious that he could get in line of something along what was
given in the reading..." [See subsequent Ck. Physical Rdgs.
which he requested.]
4/09/32 He advised us that he was a newspaperman, in the
editorial department.
5/19/32 He obtained Ck. Physical
427-5, fearing he had
tuberculosis, and asked if he should change his occupation,
if he could make a success at bookkeeping. He was advised to
stick to his present job with the newspaper, in the editorial
dept., that he could make a success of it. He asked about
marriage to a girl he had loved for three yrs. and was told
to wait until he was well physically.
See subsequent health reports under
427-5.
7/23/33 Father [
779]'s letter: "Well, [
427] stood the
pressure about as long as he could, being single. So he was
married a week ago today [
7/16/33]. We hated to see him
marry just at this time, due to the very uncertain
conditions, but he and his wife are both working and will get
by very well should nothing happen. They seem so happy and
the girl is a very fine and sweet girl. They are living with
her people here in ... [Ala.]."
10/16/33 He reported on Ck. Physical
427-5 and requested
another Ck. Physical, as he was again having some of the same
symptoms. Then he added:
Daddy [
779] told me to write you if I still wanted to receive
the bulletins that are issued by you. So I take this
opportunity to ask you to please send them to me at the
address in the above left hand corner. At the first of the
year I am going to do all in my power to start a monthly
contribution to the wonderful work that you are carrying out
so well under the present existing conditions.
Mr. Cayce, I wish you could meet my little wife. She is one
of the sweetest kids in the world and I would not give her up
for anything. She is the type of woman that believes in God
and His works and she attends Sunday School and Church
weekly. I am fixing to begin to attend SS regularly with
her. So you see I have someone that will probably help me
more than anything in the world.
10/23/33 EC's letter: Yes, I have been very anxious to see
all of you and talk with you and your parents. [[
779] and
[
780]] It's hard to think of you being old enough even to
be married. I certainly would love very much to meet your
wife, and I trust I will have that privilege sometime before
the coming year. I would love to come to Alabama for a
little visit and work there.
I'm very glad to know that you are continuing your Sunday
School and Church work. I'm very sure this will bring to
you and yours more contentment, peace and harmony than
anything else. This, I'm sure, is the experience of
everyone. If we give ourselves sincerely to a service of
God's people, so that we may truly feel ourselves identified
with those of His servants that are trying to manifest His
glory in the earth, it will bring more joy, peace and
happiness than anything else.
9/07/42 Father [
779]'s letter: "[
427] has not been with the
paper for some
7-8 yrs. now. He left to be city salesman
for ... Paint Co. Now he is in charge of Paint Dept. with
... Co., ..., Ala. Had a letter from him a few days ago
saying he had just ret'd from Atlanta buying up Xmas toys for
... store, so he may be in a new dept. now."
4/03/43 Father's ltr. said [
427] was in Army Medical Corp.,
going to school for administrative work - he liked army life
and never felt better in his life.
8/07/43 "He is in the Adjutant General's office."
[So. Pacific]
12/22/47 Report indicated he was doing administrative work in
Dept. Store.
