TEXT

1. HLC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [429], present in this room, who seeks information, advice and guidance, as to his work and future mental and material well-being. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [429]; this we have had before.
3. As respecting the work of the body, this - as we find - is in those fields of activity in which the body has been and is engaged; yet, as we find, may be altered or changed into more specific fields of activity in associated work.
4. Ready for questions.
5. (Q) What persons could help me succeed Dr. Goldenson as Rabbi in the Pittsburgh Temple when he leaves this February?
   (A) Those that act in the capacity of the president and the trustees that are of the congregation and are the elder ones of that group. That as may be designated as president; not the secretary necessarily, but as the leader of the Board.
6. (Q) What phases of my work should I emphasize to obtain this position?
   (A) The educational and recruiting phases of the work.
7. (Q) How can I obtain appointment to Temple Emanu-El of N.Y. City to be in charge of religious education?
   (A) As we find, to prepare self for the former charge sought concerning would be the more satisfactory association and connections for the body's own mental and material welfare. Though this may be secured, it would bring about some conditions not as satisfactory as through other channels.
8. (Q) How can I augment my income at the present time?
   (A) We have given as to how there should be the preparation for self in the educational fields of activity for the coming seeking or coming appointment that may be had. This would be accomplished in using this same field of activity as in lecturing.
9. (Q) How can I overcome the prejudice which Irving Lehman of N.Y. and Albany has against me?
   (A) In meeting prejudices that arise in the activities or mental forces of an individual, it should be understood that often these are from deeper sources that from those things appearing upon the surface; and are not, in a manner, responsibilities in the activities of individuals, as in this particular instance; but, as we find, this may be materially aided if there is sought the face to face counsel as to why, what has caused or produced, this change, this activity. While this will not overcome the whole condition, it will prevent the activity on the part of Lehman becoming a means of aggravation in the mental associations of the body [429].
10. (Q) Please give me any further advice that would help me in securing the Pittsburgh office.
    (A) As we find, there should be those preparations or augmentations of self respecting this field of activity, as in the teaching services of such an organization and in those fields where there may be the rounding up - as it were - of those that have grown cold in their service, in their activity, towards the service of the organization. And there may be had, through those channels as indicated, the appointment sought. The president; not the secretary so much, but the two older members of the Board.
11. (Q) Please give me any other material, mental or spiritual counsel or advice which will be of help to me at this time.
    (A) As we have pointed out to the body, in its activities and associations that deal with the mental and the spiritual activities of individuals, in making self a channel of activity from those sources of supply that must augment each soul's activity will make for self - in the associations, the activities, in whatever field of association there may be - that sureness in His service as of one called to fill that whereunto He hath appointed thee.
    This should be the data, the activity, mentally and spiritually, of each one that would lead others in the paths of the ways that are opened from His commands.
12. (Q) Are my wife and I wise in delaying having a second child?
    (A) Wise in delaying in the present. Eighteen months to two years, there should be a second.
