12/06/33 HLC's letter:
"I regret very much that we did not have the opportunity
to seeing you again before leaving the city. As you
doubtless know we followed up the original information
received about you with another reading given at the office.
Mr. and Mrs. Carrington were present. This confirmed the
statements regarding your conditions and suggested the
necessary examinations and observance of the treatments
outlined. I enclose a copy of this reading - unless I learn
from Miss Davis that she has already mailed you or Mr.
Carrington a copy of same.
"I sincerely hope for your sake that you find this of
sufficient interest to carry out the treatments as suggested.
As you realize there will be little of value to record in
this case unless you take a personal interest in this
experiment. We did not present this work before members
of your organization to prove anything, but to be of help
to someone that really needed help under conditions that
would enable those members of your Institute who cared to
follow the experiment to study it at first hand. For the
sake of the benefits to be derived through this mutual
interest I hope that you will cooperate.
"As I told Mr. Carrington before leaving New York I hope that
you have by now had the examinations suggested. We would
like very much to know the results. If such examinations
prove to be absolutely contradictory we would like very much
to have such reports to check up on with another reading.
The report of which we will gladly send to you. Dr. Dobbins
report to us certainly seemed to confirm the reading. If
such examinations warrant we believe it would be fair to
follow the treatments EXACTLY AS GIVEN.
"For the first three or four weeks the following treatments
are suggested: Carbon Ash followed by ULTRA-violet ray in
thirty minutes. Alternate doses of milk of magnesia and
milk of bismuth, amounts given in question. A strict diet,
an outline of which is given. I arranged for you to take
the light treatments free of charge at the Reilly Service,
1908 Broadway, unless you care to make other arrangements.
When the time comes for the battery treatment the Research
Department of our Association will furnish the battery for
your use without charge.
"I wish to urge you again to remember that unless every
detail is followed the whole experiment will be of little
value to either organization. Knowledge regarding psychic
subjects must be based upon results - nothing else.
"I hope that you will keep in touch with us direct or
through your Institute. Please feel free to call upon us
for any explanations or further information which you feel
necessary."
1/12/34 Dr. Frank P. Dobbins (D.O.) letter: "Major [
432]'s
osteopathic findings were the same as in the reading."
1/12/34 Dr. Frank P. Dobbins reply to questionnaire:
"Major [
432]'s osteopathic findings were the same as in the
reading."
4/23/34 EC's letter to Dr. Dobbins: "...Would it be possible
for you to arrange to give Mrs. [
525] treatments at half
price? ...If you could accept this case on a 50% basis
and let us work out the rest in some way, it would be mighty
fine to have your report to the Association as well as to
the American Psychical Institute which agrees to furnish a
report on a case but has been unable thus far to have one
carry out the treatments suggested.
"I don't want to presume too much, Dr. Dobbins, but when they
failed to carry out the treatment for Major [
432], I want to
show them that we are at least willing to do our part..."
