4/05/71 GD's note:
On
3/25/71 I received from Dr. [...] (D.C.), via Mr. [...],
the following probing questions about the sinusoidal machine
which was recommended over two hundred times in the Edgar
Cayce readings, and which now is not available:
A. USE
1.
(Q) Frequency of the sinusoidal (alternating) currents
which passed through the body from one electrode to the
other -
a. On the "low" setting ?
b. On the "high" setting?
2.
(Q) Magnitude of the current which passed through the
body, as measured in milliampers (or microampers)?
a. On low setting? b. On high setting?
3.
(Q) Did the device, known commercially as the
"sinusoidal", also generate currents similar to short-wave
(or diathermy) which were applied to the body by radiation
as opposed to the application by use of electrodes?
B. DESCRIPTION
1. Who manufactured the "sinusoidal"?
2. What was the exact trade name?
3. Is descriptive literature available?
4. Are specifications available?
5. Is schematic diagram available?
6. Where?
Today,
4/05/71, I asked Dr. O. M. Wakefield (D.O.) these
questions and here are his answers:
A. USE:
1.
(A) The Medcolator is now used instead of the sinusoidal,
the short wave machines, the diathermy. It carries 2.5 volts
at 2 amperes. The oscillation varies up to maximum of one
thousand cycles. It varies - you may control it. It even
carries metals into the system, by placing pads (saturated)
on various centers, but he only uses water. The old
sinusoidal machine was entirely different from the short
wave or diathermy machine. It is not even manufactured now
due to regulations of communications system. The old
diathermy and short wave machines were replaced many years
ago because of interference with radio and TV stations. The
new machine, which is a much improved one, is called a
MEDCOLATOR. It is manufactured by MEDCO PRODUCTS CO.,
TULSA, OK. You can get a brochure from the Company
describing these things.
SINUSOID (si'-nus-oid) [SINUS; ELDOS, likeness].
1. Resembling a sinus. 2. One of the relatively large spaces
or tubes constituting the embryonic circulatory system in the
supradrenal gland, liver, and other viscera.
SINUSOIDAL (si-nus-oid'-al). Pertaining to or derived from
a sinusoid. s. current, an alternating induced electrical
current, with equal current strokes.
SINUSOIDALIZATION (sin-us-oi-dal-i-za'-shun). The
application of a sinusoidal current.
Fr. Gould's Medical Dictionary, Third Edition, 1924
reprinting.
SHORT WAVE. Radio. A hertzian wave of sixty-meter wave
length or less. - SHORT'-WAVE' (wav'; 2), adj.
Fr. Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, Fifth Edition, 1938.
DI'A-THER'-MY (di'-a-thur'mi), N. Also DI'A-THER'MI-A
(thur'-mi-a). The therapeutic heating of tissues beneath
the skin by means of high frequency electrical oscillations;
also, the apparatus used. DI'A-THER'MIZE (thur'mize), v.t.
