11/11/93 JT's Note: I received the following today from
Miss [
3172], daughter of Mrs. [
457] and Mr. [
412].
October 14, 1993
This is the second time in less than five months that my
heart has been hurt. On Wednesday, October 13, I lost my
dear, dear mother. Like my father, she went quickly and
without pain. She was taking a trip with a group from
College Walk when she slumped over in her seat. The seat
belt prevented her from falling out of her seat. They
tried to call her but mother did not answer. A former
nurse in the group came up and put her hand on Mother's
chest. She felt that she (Mother) was already gone. The
hospital told me later that she arrived without any vital
signs. They did all they could to bring her back but
nothing succeeded.
As per her wishes, Mother is being sent to the Bowman
Medical Center.
I wish to thank all of you for your love and support at
the time of my father's passing. I know it meant a great
deal to my mother.
Do not stand by my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am a diamond glint of snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starshine at night.
Do not stand by my grave and cry.
I am not there ... I did not die.
