This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of October, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [464].

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for the improvement of same, and you will answer any questions I may ask you regarding same.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here - we have had this before, you see?
3. Now, while we find there is great improvement in the physical forces of the body, there are STILL those existent conditions that cause distress at times to the body, and when the body is overtaxed in any manner this causes distress in the inability for the body to respond easily toward recuperative forces. These, as we see, are produced by the (that is, these disturbances) improper eliminations distributing in the body; that is, when there should be EQUALIZED eliminations - kidneys, liver and excretory system, or respiratory system acting one with another - we find first one then the other of these eliminating centers becoming OVERCHARGED, and the others not functioning properly. This produced now principally by the tie-ups, or the improper incentives as are seen radiated from the nerve plexuses in the lower dorsal and upper lumbar region. Hence the sweats or the vapor baths would prove beneficial, with massage following same. This would equalize the distribution of eliminations in the system. Hence we find how that with this unbalanced condition the assimilation of starches and fats are at times hard for the system to handle. At OTHERS the system handles these properly, see?
4. Now, to meet the needs of the conditions at the present time, we would not discontinue the use of the gold, but only take same from five to eight drops an hour before the Violet Ray is applied to the system. This will keep the functioning in proper order as pertains to the glands internal in the system.
5. The diet should be well balanced, but ALTERNATED from time to time. Not all of sweets, nor all of the starches, nor all of fats - and fats should be the less taken in the system. Starches and proteins may be taken in the small quantities. Let the vegetable and the vegetable salts producing vegetables be the greater part of the diet. Keep these for the system, well. Drink plenty of water. Take the vapor or sweat baths at least once each week. These may be the cause of the body feeling very much depleted, but would the body [if the body would] rest for hour to two hours and a half after these baths, these WILL be found very beneficial, see? the vapor or the sweat baths, with a good rub-down following same, ESPECIALLY along the whole of the spinal column, see? Do that. Ready for questions.
6. (Q) Is the Violet Ray strong enough?
   (A) The Violet Ray is strong enough - just take more of it. Take the gold an half to three-quarters of an hour before the Violet Ray is applied. Let the gold be active in system while Violet Ray is being applied. Apply the Violet Ray over the whole of the nerve system, following out the grand lines of the nerve system - cerebro-spinal nerve system - fifteen to twenty minutes each evening.

1. 11/02/27 Dear Mr. Cayce: I was so surprised to get my reading so soon. I was not looking for it for two or three weeks. It is encouraging to know that there is some improvement. The improper eliminations have been my trouble right along in all the readings, it is the same thing. My stomach gives me a lot of trouble when I first started taking the gold. I had indigestion very badly like a lump in my throat. As soon as I started with the gold that disappeared. When my stomach acts half way decent, I feel much better. Just at the present time, I am having more trouble with the digestive organs than anything else. So I am not up to the mark. I am going to get a book on foods and their values and study it - if for a while. I am following your advice about the starchy foods and the fats. Always something to take the joy out of life. Must I look on the face of a lovely pumpkin pie and say no, no naughty - no can't have, snow capped lemon pies and chocolate cake 3 stories high and I must turn my head away and pretend I don't like them. Instead, dirty old spinach, sleazy watery green stuff. It always reminds me of cows. Every time I eat lettuce my stomach sets up a howl. Cabbage is about the same. Do you see I am up against it. I have taken 6 baths and massage treatments, I had to quit - I was getting so weak, so I am only taking one a week now. When my stomach goes on the blink there all my old feelings return - I get weak in the legs. You issued a new order to take the gold from five to 8 drops. I take it that means 5, 6, 7 drops, 8 drops and skip a day. My husband mailed the gold to you for inspection. I hope it arrived safely. I think though that it was alright. I left out a small amount for present use. Won't you folks all be good and glad when you get me off your hands. Haven't I been the sticker? but I have got to see this thing through. Come to Cleveland when you can.

2. 1/05/28 Dear Mr. Cayce: I want another reading. I have been having a rather bad time of it. When my kidneys get on the rampage I am down and out - headaches and headaches all the time. I want to ask some questions.
   There is something wrong that we haven't reached yet with our treatments. What is it? I do not feel good where I ought to feel good. First, one organ and then another becomes overcharged. What can we do for that? the kidneys and bladder seem to cause the most trouble. Will I keep on with the gold? if so how long? Can I use too much of the gold and injure my stomach? What is the action of the gold in the body? I seem to be stronger and at the same time there is a great weakness always present. When the kidneys discharge every half hour for a day or two at a time I am a most miserable creature. If there is such a thing as being well I want to get that way. Every so often my whole system, seems to back up, my face gets yellow, my head aches, I get light headed, and my legs get so weak they will hardly carry me. There must be some way of discharging this toxic from my system and relieving that distress. I have tried taking different medicines to relieve the situation, but causing as much distress as relieving the pressure. Where I get benefit in one way it causes trouble in another, so I am between the devil and the dark blue sea all the time.
   I hope Mr. Cayce that you will have a doctor in attendance when you give this reading and may be among the lot of us we can do something to get to the very bottom of it this time. If it is an extra charge just let me know. I am always home to you do not have is notify me about the reading if I should be away it would be Saturday afternoons or Sundays. It has been so cold and snowy that [2144] cannot take the machine out, so I am home all the rest of the time any way. I do hope things will work out all right.
