(Q) When my system seems to back up, my face gets yellow, my
head aches, I get light headed and my legs too weak to hold
me up, is there some way of discharging this toxin from my
system and relieving that distress?
(A) By equalizing the circulation and the pressure as is
produced on the body in the eliminating centers. Hence the
sweats or the hot packs and the light for the back or spine,
so that the perspiration is brought to the capillary
circulation, so that the liver is aroused, so that the body
is kept in the proper condition. We would add too, for the
elimination, these properties:
Take four [
4] ounces ambrosia weed, or ragweed, in sixteen
[
16] ounces of water - distilled water. Reduce by simmering
(not boiling) to one-half [1/2] the quantity. Strain while
warm and add four [
4] ounces of beet sugar first dissolved in
(do not use cane sugar) two [
2] ounces of water - hot water,
with two [
2] ounces eighty-five percent [85%] alcohol - grain
alcohol, with twenty [
20] minims Oil of Sassafras.
The dose would be teaspoonful at bedtime, teaspoonful before
breakfast. Eat the breakfast! which should consist
principally of fruit or gruel. Do not eat apples, however.
Citrous fruit is very good if not too much sugar is used.
In the place of sugar there may be used on the fruits that of
the active principle of sugar, in small quantities, or a
little beet sugar - not the cane sugar.
(Q) Why is it that when I get benefit in one way it causes
trouble in another?
(A) The unequalized condition in the system from pressure in
the cerebrospinal system. This about the 9th to the 11th
dorsal, where pressure is radiated to the solar plexus and to
the mesenteric system. This prevents the coordination.
Hence this relief must be brought about for the FULL
correction of conditions.
(Q) How long should I keep on with the gold?
(A) Until the quantity is reduced to the one drop at the
dose, and then there will be given other suggestions for the
correction, or for the condition as it has reached in the
body at that time; for the changes will be regulated by the
manner and the way the system responds to those corrections
in the lower dorsal and lumbar and sacral regions.
(Q) What should be done to get at the bottom of this
trouble?
(A) Relieve those conditions in the cerebrospinal nerve
system.
We are through with this reading.

REPORTS
1/16/28 Letter from [
464]: "...I received the reading and I
am very much pleased with it. I will follow directions as
near as possible... Yes, you said a mouthful that the diet
would be a real hardship on the body, not saying a thing
about the mind. If I can't make a go of it here, then I will
go to Virginia Beach, for I am determined to put this
through. What else is there for me? I can feel an
improvement when I stand. I feel differently - seem a little
more solid on my feet..."
1/26/28 [
464]'s letter to EC: "...I received your letter
this A.M. It is two weeks Saturday since I had your reading
and I have not been able to get that prescription filled yet.
I have just written to our doctor to get an order for the
alcohol. I couldn't get him on the phone, and I cannot get
it without an order. [
2144] and her father went out Sunday
afternoon in the machine to hunt for the ragweed. I could
not get it but got the address of a place in Carolina where
they grow all this stuff for the markets. We wrote for it
last Sunday and have not heard yet. So I called up a
drugstore and asked him to get it here in 5 days. He said he
would try. We searched all over for beet sugar and no one
had that. That is one heck of a prescription to get filled.
I was wondering if rock candy would take the place of beet
sugar. My osteopath doctor is taking a great interest in me
now. He has given me 3 vigorous treatments. He read my
first and last reading and was very much interested after
reading the last one. He said 'I will give you another
treatment'. He had just got through with me. He is the best
osteopath in the city. Dr. Forquer [James W. Forquer, D.O.]
is his name. He helps me other ways too. He sat up and took
notice when he read my reading. As to the diet, - I am still
alive and doing the very best I know how; hate it like poison
but I can see it is the best for me - who wants gruel when
there is nice berry pie in sight. Well, I am good. I have
cut out sugars, starches and almost all fats.
"I do not believe I will need the doctor's advice until the
next reading and if there is anything in that that we are not
sure of we will ask him about it then. Of course I do not
feel much different. How can I? Suddenly taking away so
much food. I will write again soon..."
2/18/28 [
464]'s letter to EC: "...I have just had one
terrible, awful time trying to get that prescription filled.
It is just 3 weeks today since I had my reading. I have had
6 osteopathic treatments and I should have had the medicine.
I could get the ragweed from your address in New York. I
wrote and got an answer saying they had it but the girls
ordered it from a drugstore here. It is about 8 days since
they put the order in, he said he could get it for them and
it is not here yet. I could have had it from New York by
now. I wrote to my doctor for the order for the alcohol and
I was so long hearing from him that I began to think that it
was queer, when I had a letter from his wife - he has been
dead a year. It was such a shock, it made me sick and I had
a visitor all the same afternoon and she told me all the
morgue stories she knew of. The result was that when I went
to take my bath before my treatment - I was expecting the
doctor that afternoon to give me the osteopathic treatment -
that I went down on my knees, but I came out of it after the
treatment. I kept very quiet and went to bed early. If that
woman ever shows her face around this house again and I see
her first, she won't get in - darn empty-headed busybodies.
"I can get my order for the alcohol now. I can't get the
beet sugar. I will use honey as it is a natural sweet. It
is the ragweed that has held me up so long. Am I supposed to
keep those osteopathic treatments up indefinitely? I will be
finding myself on the road to the poorhouse one of these
days.
"I have been very careful about my diet, keeping as close to
the reading as I know how. At first the diet made me very
uncomfortable but that passed away. Now I do not mind it at
all. I have vegetable soup 'thick' every day, orange juice
and gruel, and some tea. I take the tea later on. I find
some improvement in the locomotories but the digestive organs
are not working right yet. Of course, weakness from a full
diet to such a strenuous one. However, I am still hoping. I
wish that weed would hurry up and get here. Still have
trouble with my head. A tight, drawn feeling in my head and
eyes. You said aplenty when you said this trouble of mine is
hard to deal with. It sure is. I don't despair though.
"I DO feel STEADIER on my feet. Osteopath doctor does give
me a good treatment just fine.
"I hope everything is working out to your satisfaction along
your lines. I don't care how slow the treatment is so long
as it is sure.
"I must close with best wishes..."
2/25/28 [
464]'s letter to GD: "...Is Mr. Cayce home yet? I
will be wanting another reading soon. Let me know, will you,
please?..."
3/07/28 [
464]'s letter to EC: "...I received your letter and
you take it from me that I want a reading the very first
opportunity you have, and if the good doctor can throw any
light on the subject, I am ready for all suggestions for I
surely am having one heck of trouble - while one thing is
better, some others go on the rampage. I really think now
that it is my stomach, kidneys and bladder almost entirely.
In your last reading you said there was a pressure below the
9th dorsal that was affecting the kidneys and bladder. I
have had an osteopathic doctor to take care of that as
suggested in the reading. I do not know if that has been
removed or not. My bladder still is over-active. I took a
bath in hot water and I laid in the bathtub to get the hot
water on my back, then I went downstairs and sat with my back
to the gas grate and heated my back through and through 'til
the osteopath arrived for the treatment. He said I surely
was warm - he could feel the heat on his hands from my back.
He is greatly interested in my case. I have paid strict
attention to the diet but I find that liquid foods and drinks
of all kinds, except water in small quantities, do not agree
with me. I am trying to overcome a lifelong habit of tea but
my heart is so effected that I really need a stimulant of
some kind to take its place; the doctor will understand that.
I cannot throw it away altogether - all at once - without
serious trouble such as splitting headaches and a weak heart.
I would be flat on my back in bed. I think the tea has had a
great deal to do with the nervous indigestion but I am not
sure. I think it is a crime for parents to give children tea
or coffee. I did not raise my girls on either one but they
have acquired the habit in later years and I am always
preaching against it. It is wrong, Mr. Cayce.
"I feel confident that [if] we can overcome the stomach
troubles, kidney and bladder, that things will right
themselves shortly. I hope you had a successful trip South -
no doubt you had a taste of early spring while there.
"There has been a doctor here, Ryley by name, [Joe Shelby
Riley, M.D., D.O., D.C.] who has been teaching the zone
system - no doubt you have heard of it. My osteopathic
doctor has been attending the lectures and learning how to
use the concussioner for the spine. Dr. Ryley said it
reached parts deeper in than the osteopath or the kiropractic
[chiropractic] can with their methods, so my doctor wants to
use it on my spine to remove the pressure, stimulate the
nerves and increase circulation. But not until I heard from
my next reading. It said something about sweats. I have had
no sweats except the little while heating my back for the
osteopath. If they are necessary when, and how? I have
taken the ragweed almost 3 weeks. It is an astringent, but
not altogether in my case, with a teaspoonful dose. I will
be glad to have the doctors advice when necessary..."
