6/13/28 Letter:
My dear Mrs. [
464]:-
"We have yours of the 6th. I believe if there's anyone that
can understand and appreciate your feelings at being
discouraged, I can. I've been quite unwell myself for about
five or six weeks. Sometimes I'd feel a lot better, then I'd
seem to go all to pieces - and I just felt like, 'Well, if
the thing doesn't work for me how can I ever expect it to
work for anyone else?', but I'm mighty glad to say that after
a little careful study and being a little bit more consistent
with the information given, I find myself feeling almost
human again - and near about normal, I believe.
"I know you get discouraged, but you know you don't want to
give up YET. If you, of course, WANT us to try, I'll be more
than glad to see what we can find - BUT - in ANY case, you
know it's yourself - and there is such a thing as health,
such a thing as a perfect understanding of what's causing
trouble and conditions, and the thing you want to do is just
get hold of it in the right way and just keep at it until
you DO, do it! It's only in fighting the thing that you will
be able to arrive at the proper understanding, and if we can
be of help - why don't hesitate to call on us. We are glad
to try. Yes, I know there's a lot in UNDERSTANDING what is
given. I've certainly found that out, too.
"In-Mo-Ray, as I understand it, is the name given by some
manufacturers for the kind of electrical appliance they
make. These, as I understand, are used more by naturopath
physicians, or some homeopaths or osteopaths. I know there
is one man in Norfolk here - a naturopath - who has such a
machine. I've never seen it, but I've heard him talk about
it. [Carl S. Frischkorn, N.D.]
"Whenever you have the opportunity, let us hear from you.
Don't be conquered by the worries and troubles and
conditions, but conquer them by understanding them - and
let us hear from you whenever you can.
"With kindest personal regards and best wishes from all,"
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD [Dictated but not read]
6/13/28 Letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
"I am ashamed to ask you for another reading but there are
some questions I would like to ask you. No matter what I do
or what I try to do, I do not gain any strength in my lower
limbs. I tried the doctor's medicine but it is no good with
me. I have been divided between two opinions for a long,
long time. It is hard to believe that my trouble is only
mental when the physical condition is so disturbed. I have
forced myself to go places & do things only to return back
in a state of collapse. No doubt my physical condition is a
result of a mental disturbance. I have had enough trouble
to drive me flue'. We do things through ignorance. If I had
my life to live over again (& I don't want it), I certainly
would not allow myself to get in a condition of this kind.
I would use some common sense. I have always been a
highstrung nervous, self-willed being & one understanding the
natural laws can overcome a lot of this nervous nonsense &
save a pile of trouble. A little sensible reasoning helps
mightily. Now if you can find it in your heart to have not a
little - but a whole lot of patience with this erring patient
of yours. You will be doing myself & my family a great
service. My husband is about at the end of his rope where I
am concerned & I greatly fear that if the truth of it were
known - he would like to see the end of this trouble of mine
one way or the other. The general run of men have little
patience with sickness and mine is no exception to the rule.
And he feels that he has had about enough. It just gets
him to come home every night & see me on the couch. Although
I am not on the couch all day & far from it. I use myself
as much as I have power to & sometimes more. Could that
pressure on my back be seen & recognized in by a photo taken
with the X-ray. I do have a lot of trouble in my back on the
left side right at the junction. I had my urine analyzed and
the report was that it was alright. I have been worrying a
lot over my condition lately & that is not good. I hadn't
done that - for up till that last sickness I have a perfect
horror of paralysis. I wouldn't have that fear, if
my legs were in good working order. The fear of it - is a
nightmare and only those I have much confidence in can
dispel that fear nervous people are beset with - fears and
horrors much to my disgust. If I say to myself once a day
I say it a dozen times, 'don't be such a dumb fool! Behave
yourself! There is nothing really the matter with you!'
Seems to me Mr. Cayce, that all the devils of hell are let
loose, to torment this generation of peoples & they settle
wherever they can find a roosting place. Well, they don't
need to roost on my brains. Now, do you think you folks
could stand the pressure of another reading for me? I know
it is asking a whole lot. I hate to feel myself defeated as
long as I see a ray of hope. Now some questions. I will
send you the money when you set the date for me.
1. Are the glands normal?
2. Would an X-ray photograph show the pressure in my back
that the last reading said was causing so much trouble?
3. Is the pressure from the spine or is it the kidneys
enlarged?
4. How is the blood now? it was showing an infection of
the red & white?
5. How is the liver behaving?
6. How is the circulation?
7. Will I still omit the meat from my diet?
8. What causes the electric sparks that float before my eyes
& what causes the black specks that float before my eyes?
9. What causes the film that totally blinds, usually one eye
at-a-time and lasts about 15 minutes?
"I get dreadfully discouraged yet, I know it must take time
to overcome this long standing illness & just when I think
things are working out nicely, I get a wallop that knocks me
off my feet. It always takes so long to regain that lost
confidence and strike out again. I read of cures you have
made & I hear of them & that's always encouraging. You know
Mr. Cayce, I am up against it too for my husband never gives
me any help or tries to stimulate the good work in my favor.
He is alright but I often need encouragement & I don't get
it! I AM better than I was when I first started with you.
I do not have those awful dizzy spells. If the Osteopath is
still necessary I will have one come again. The treatment
seems absurd to me. I haven't given you a thing towards
the Hospital, it is not because I do not want to. I have so
many outlets for my money that it keeps me figuring how to
meet up with all the demands. I haven't had a new dress for
over a year & I am wearing my old hats until they are too
shabby. I am ashamed of them. We are expecting a small
amount of money that is owing to us, in August & when that
time comes I will send some. It may only be a very small
amount but I want you to know that my heart is in the right
place. That is I hope it is, unless it jumps out with one
of its awful leaks. You did not tell me if you intend to
keep your patients in the Hospital or if they have to get
rooms some where else. I suppose you have no idea yet,
what your prices will be. Our medical doctor, Evans thinks
I want to know too much. I told him I like to know the ins
& outs of things. He said that, when I asked him what, the
tablets were for that he gave me to take. He said, 'That
is not for you to know.' I knew I would put them in the
garbage can sooner or later for that. I am not taking
anything I don't know anything about. I like the Dr. fine,
but I don't like his pills. He said they were for the glands
to throw me off the scent. If they were really for the
glands then the glands would have none of them for they made
me feel awful queer.
"I did not intend to write a book when I started this letter.
You will be very busy with your readings & looking after the
work of the Hospital. I do hope you get lots of easier
patients than I am right at first. So everything will go
off with a bang!"
Yours most sincerely, Mrs. [

6/23/28 "I have been studying the rdgs. very carefully lately
and find that at first I did not get all there was in them.
Not knowing the human body and its workings or the medical
terms used, I did not get it all at once and now as I sit
here studying with charts and a dictionary, I am getting so
I understand things much better...
"I think I shall go on with the tr. as given. I did think
some of trying the other formula that you gave me [in
464-1
as an alternate], by living on the nuts and milk diet, and
the In-Mo-Ray electric tr. I am afraid I would fall down
on the diet - part of it...
"My osteopaths worked between my shoulders most of the time,
and between my shoulders is the strongest part of my body.
Both Dr. Barker [Mabel V. Barker, D.O.] and Dr. Forquer did
the same thing. The woman I hired to give the violet ray
sawed between my shoulders until I was ready to shake her,
and I distinctly told each one over and over again it is
below the 9th dorsal. I want the heavy work done. I may be
wrong, but the rdg. said deep massage below the 9th dorsal,
over the lumbar and down the sacral nerves. So I let them
all go. I am paying for the kind of tr. I want, not what
they want to give."
