3/17/38 EC's letter: "Forgiveness - well, that is a hard
thing to master in our own minds, but am of the opinion that
we have to forgive and FORGET, which is still harder. But it
must be the law, for we are gods in the making. What sort of
one would we be if we were not to forgive? yet I know each
person must answer that within self. But when we pray
'Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass
against us,' we are up against a hard proposition, don't you
think?
"Hope you will find the place you are looking for in the
country, so you can have the garden and flowers around you.
You know, I never can think of anyone being hard hearted,
even, or anything else but lovely, who loves flowers.
"Yes, the beds about the house here are looking real pretty,
and have started my vegetable garden - have onions, peas,
corn, lettuce, cabbage, all coming along nicely. Been cold
on them but they are looking good this morning and are
drinking in the sunshine right along, and know will be
looking real fine soon if this keeps up a while."
4/15/38 "This is the third attempt I have made to write you
for another rdg. I have been so miserable since I had that
bronchial trouble. Pains in my heart. My body is like lead.
Everything is wrong. I have been trying to do a little
housecleaning and I get all lame and sore... I hope my heart
condition is not beyond repair. Kidneys have been acting up
kind of bad. Better luck in the next world, I hope, for all
of us...lots of us should never have been born, and when we
are we pay the price of our own follies and those of others.
It is going to rain and I am glad of it, for it will coincide
with my ill humor. I have Saturn strong in my horoscope and
you know what that means, and I have Venus strong too, and
those two conflicting elements are not so good. Venus loves
all lovely things and Saturn puts the damper on all of them.
Squelched from the very beginning.
"Well, so long, Mr. Cayce. I hope all of your friends are
nicer than I am."
