2/04/39 "I have just gone like a rag. I have no appetite,
can't taste or smell, eyes bother me, hearing is getting
about as bad as [husband] and so many headaches - hot head
besides, all the rest of it, and there is plenty. I have
aged 10 yrs. this winter with one thing and another. I
wrote that I had a shock; well, I did, and this is the
reaction more or less. I felt as though I were headed for
the happy hunting grounds - all feelings and emotions. You
know I never did get the chance to carry out the tr. fully
for my weak back and legs, always something comes up to stop
it...if only I could get back a sense of feeling besides
unhappiness. I used to laugh and joke all the time. The
joker seems to be lost out of the deck."
REPORTS
2/20/39 "I have taken one tr. and I expect to take another
tomorrow morning. Why can't these doctors do as they are
told, but no, they must diagnose the case to suit themselves
and use their own judgement and treat accordingly."
