7/16/41 EC's letter: "When you can't get the Concord grapes,
any of the Calif. grapes can be used, but this was for an
acute condition and possibly has passed now, but if you are
still bothered with the trouble I would get a few pounds of
the Calif. grapes and try it out. Where such has been
suggested before it has brought almost instant relief. If
you are not feeling better, and can't get any of the grapes,
please let me know - will see if something else might not be
suggested at this time - this, of course, at no expense to
you."
7/28/41 "I am anything but better. Grapes will soon be in,
and I guess I will hold together till then...so hot here
impossible to sleep, shattered nerves - lumbago and pools of
perspiration - no appetite."
