(Q) What should be done for the nausea?
(A) This under these particular conditions becomes very
aggravating at times to the body, especially of early morning
if there has been any mental reaction that upsets or disturbs
the body. As does some irritation that may arise from
physical conditions from the outside or those reactions to
the activities in the assimilating system.
Do not use those properties as indicated that may ordinarily
be used, [for nausea, seasickness, etc., as in
480-22, Par.
10-A] but ELIMINATE the Iodide of Potassium to almost nil -
just sufficient for a reaction. This should be made and used
then in this way and manner - it should be made at least once
each week, fresh; not to be used after a week's time, for
this body particularly!
Limewater.............................1 ounce,
Cinnamon Water .......................1 ounce,
10% solution Bromide of Potassium....10 minims,
10% solution Iodide of Potassium......1 minim.
This may be taken of morning or when nausea occurs. Do not
take too close together. But it will be found to be most
efficacious in pregnancy nausea.
This also adds to a way and manner in which lime may be
taken, that is so necessary for the development of the body
itself (and this should be, you see, a male). [7/6/1937 Baby
son was born dead.] And it should bring for the activities
of the body and the whole influences of the body the better
reaction.
As to the diet of the body: In the early morning there
should not be a great quantity of foods, to be sure, but
those of the cereals that carry a great deal of the whole
wheat, or barley and wheat combined. These are MOST helpful,
for they carry, to be sure, a quantity of iron. But with
these properties being taken of the LIME, WITH these, will
assist in eliminating much of those disturbances of the
excess of irons as produce blemishes or spots over various
portions of the body. But do not be in such a way and manner
as to try to get rid of these. For these should be rather
the indications of how the body is balancing itself.
In the noons we would have rather the raw vegetables as much
as possible, with - of course - vegetable soups or with a
little meat. But whatever the body DESIRES! And we will
find one day it'll want one thing and the next another, and
it'll be as strange as may be! But not over-quantities of
this. But these become as necessary influences. For
remember, the body is awakened to the needs of what is in
reality CREATION taking place in the physical reactions! And
these should not be denied; though at times they may be "put
to" to find the things just as needed. And oft when they are
obtained it isn't just what it wants! But the fruits, the
small fruits - for soon there will be the desire for
strawberries when there aren't any! There will be the desire
for cherries when there aren't any! There'll be the desire
for this, that or the other; but supply these. Not with
synthetic applications or productions, but as near to the
PROPER foods in those directions as possible.
Meats - adhere closer to lamb, fowl, fish, goose, duck and
the like. Wild game especially, if there are the
possibilities of these - these will supply elements that are
NOT obtained from those where there are too great precautions
taken in their foods. For nature is the greater physician
than all the LEARNED! For as there is given into the keeping
of each body the ability to bring forth that channel through
which a soul may manifest, there is given into the keeping of
the mental forces that which makes for the demands that may
BRING these into that way and manner in which the greater
channel may come. For ever is there being sought those
channels through which the spirit of truth and life may be
brought to a waiting, a seeking, a sin-ridden world; for
those expressions where the greater blessings may be given to
man in every estate.
Then as has been indicated, add those that are so helpful;
and those combinations in the food values follow rather in
those lines. Not too much, to be sure, of the citrus fruit
juices of mornings for a body in these developing or changing
periods, but these may be taken during the day if desired
after food has been taken, for it tends to then supply those
elements for the body itself as well as for the body-building
that becomes more and more of a constructive and building
force.
(Q) Should Ventriculin be continued?
(A) Not with the iron but without the iron, occasionally.
This if taken once or twice or three times a MONTH should be
sufficient. But this produces and will bring into the
activities of the blood stream that which will supply not
only for the body itself but for the developing forces, a
greater ability for resistance to other disturbing forces.
(Q) Should she stay in bed continuously, or can she have any
exercise?
(A) It is better to have exercise whenever the body feels
the abilities to, or the inclinations. Not an overtaxation,
but there should be exercise of the body; not depending upon
the movements of the body in the manipulations to supply it
all.
(Q) Any spiritual advice?
(A) As has been indicated. Let the body know, let the body
comprehend, that it is being chosen as a channel for the
expression of DIVINITY into materiality! Not as that which
would overburden the mental forces as a responsibility, but
rather should it be ever:
THY HANDMAID, O LORD! USE THOU ME! LET MY MEDITATIONS, LET
MY ACTIVITIES BE THAT THERE MAY BE MANIFESTED THROUGH THIS
CHANNEL THAT THOU WOULDST HAVE IN THIS EXPERIENCE.
We are through for the present.

601] was present to ask questions about a
possible pregnancy.
REPORTS
11/18/36 Mother [
601]'s ltr.: "When I arrived in N.Y. last
Fri. and called [
480] in the eve., she sounded so weak & low
I decided to leave for home Sat. 9:10 a.m. by plane and
arrived here about 1 p.m. Evidently the druggist did not
fill the nausea medicine properly (he did not use a 10%
solution of the Bromide Potassium) as we ordered the fresh
bottle which was more diluted (watery in color, while the
first was quite yellow) and since taking the 2nd she is
feeling much better & able to eat. She has lost over 5 lbs.
and has been very weak, but since yesterday has perked up a
bit and feels more ambitious to be about. Dr. Thompson is
following the instructions and is very much interested in the
explanations in [
480]'s rdg. as they are much more
enlightening than his textbooks. [
480] was at the airport to
meet me, rather wan & thin, but being in the air made her
feel better... Please arrange an appt. for a Ck. Physical
for [
480] for the 1st wk. in Dec... We are in a quandry as
to whom to select as a Dr. to take care of [
480] when the
time approaches, & will submit several names in the next rdg.
Dr. John R. Thompson, D.O., is watching her carefully now but
we must prepare for later on, as it will be a task to have
one who will cooperate with the rdgs."
11/21/36 See
480-29. See subsequent Ck. Physical Rdgs.
3/03/37 Mother [
601]'s ltr.: "[
480] has been feeling quite
well, beginning to feel the weight of her 'Jim' and tires
easily. 'HE' is quite active and Dr. I. L. O'Connor (D.O.)
thinks it will be a 'She.'"
3/05/37 EC's ltr.: "The Dr. may be right, who can tell, but
haven't see it [the rdg.] fail many times - once, I believe,
out of about a hundred or more. Just had such an occasion on
the 2nd - one of the members in Norfolk - had her [Mrs.
[
540]'s] rdg. about 3 months ago, I believe it was, and said
a boy - and when it was born was 9-1/2 lb. boy. Had his Life
Rdg. [
1346-1] to name him for them - that is some
responsibility, isn't it?"
2/02/37 GD had written Mrs. [
601] about Mrs. [
540]: "She said
if it was a girl she was going to call it Gertrude Gladys for
Mrs. Cayce and me, and if it was a boy she was going to name
it Edgar Cayce. However, I really believe she has decided to
get a Life Rdg when it is a day old or so and name it
properly - as [
299], [
314] and [
1208] were. Mrs. Cayce said
she was almost sorry it wasn't a girl [according to the
rdg.], as she never has had a namesake - and always wanted a
little girl too. But I always wanted a boy, no matter who's
having it. A young girl [
578] in our new Group #6 is just
starting to have a baby [
1958] - not as far along even as
[
480]. New births take on so much more importance since we
have come to realize how a soul is attracted to an
environment. For so long we haven't had any babies in the
whole connection of the Work, and now we're having several
coming along at once. It certainly makes life interesting
and worth while."
5/26/37 GD's ltr. to Mrs. [
601]: "Although we are sorry we
can't have the [
619]'s and [
633]'s with us at the Congress,
we wouldn't change things one bit if we could - because
you'll be having a Congress of your own, and a much greater
one, more far-reaching for the future welfare of not only our
own group but the entire world. For I truly believe, with
such an environment, such loving expectation and care, you
are going to attract a world leader, either physically,
mentally or spiritually, or all three. I can hardly wait to
see his Life Reading. We are so thrilled that [
480] is going
to let the Life Reading name him. I had been hoping she
would, but since he has been called 'Jim' from the beginning,
I thought she would name him that regardless - but even if
the name is otherwise she can always use that for his
nickname. I had thought of James [
619] [
633], but I've
guessed at all the others and guessed wrong. It certainly is
thrilling to start the Life Reading and wait breathlessly to
see WHO a soul is, and what its name shall be in this life.
His will be the fifth. According to numerology (which is
only a sign, according to the Readings), five is a change
[Baby born dead
7/06/37] - so I know he's going to mean
something - this little 'Jim.' It would be exciting to have
the wire or phone message come through from you during the
Congress - that would be a few days earlier than you've
planned. I know [
480] is going to get along fine and be
nearer normal physically when it is over than she has been in
a long time. [True - see
480-27 Reports.] Just recently we
had a physical Reading on a lady who expects her baby in
August, and it recommended osteopathy - said Osteopathic care
was best for all confinement cases [
1373-1] Dr. Crews - our
lady osteopath here, you remember - says there's nothing like
osteopathy for an easy delivery. Well, here's hoping! It
doesn't seem like it has been almost the full time, does it?
I suppose in some ways the time seems endless to [
480], but I
know that in others she loves every minute of it. Please let
us hear often." [See her subsequent Ck. Physical rdgs.]
