(Q) Any other advice?
(A) Do these; for these, as we will find, would be the
better for this body, [
483]. We are through with this
reading.

REPORTS
See subsequent correspondence under
483-1 Reports.
7/01/34 Mrs. [
2457]'s ltr. to EC: "...Shhhh, this may not
be out for publication but application has been made some
weeks for entrance of a patient some 97 miles west of here.
You gave a reading for some time ago - the patient was not
mentally strong enough to carry out instructions and now this
is the result. She is gradually getting worse and the man
of the family can't do his work and be in there with her
every few minutes and up all hours of the night, so this
application seems to be the best solution. I will say for
him that he did his best from my observation to carry out
the instructions of the reading. I was called in several
times to see if there was any visible change. She just did
not exert what will power she had. There are a lot of people
here in worse condition but they fight to come back and don't
give up to every little pain, wherever it is. Nuff sed..."
7/11/34 EC's reply: "...Do I gather correctly from what you
say about [
483] being over at the state home now? It is
rather a pitiful thing when an individual pities themselves
for what they have done and tries to justify themselves in
their own mind until they haven't any - it is entirely
gone..."
7/14/34 Mrs. [
2457]'s ltr. to EC: "...Have not heard
anything else concerning [
483]. Did hear someone give a wild
version of it. 'Did you know so and so had happened' - but
I knew nothing, for those peoples' benefit..."
8/13/34 Mrs. [
2457]'s ltr. to EC: "...Did I tell you that
[
483] was finally admitted to the institution at Tuscaloosa?
..." [State Hospital, Tuscaloosa, Ala.]
8/17/34 EC's reply:
"I knew that it must sooner or later come to such a thing
I don't think, though, she will be there very long before
she will be taken out again. When she knows she has to
depend on herself it will be different..."
6/16/35 Mr. [
779]'s letter: "Mrs. [
483] has been back from
the hospital for
3-4 weeks, but he said today [her husband]
he was afraid that she would have to go back."
6/24/35 EC's letter to Mr. [
779]: "I understand that Mrs.
[
483] has had a hard time of it. Well, it comes home to
roost. Hope she gets on OK."
